Situated at the Western end of the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges, Glen Helen Resort is the climax to an adventurous and colourful drive, a little over an hour from Alice Springs.

Glen Helen is surrounded by the majestic MacDonnell Ranges, and is a destination in its own right, with easy day trip access to the whole West MacDonnell National Park, including Palm Valley, Hermannsburg, Ormiston Gorge, Redbank Gorge and Mt Sonder. A one night stay is never enough.

The Internationally renowned Larapinta Trail is right on our doorstep, making it possible to walk sections during the day while sleeping in a comfortable bed at night.

Glen Helen Resort offers many experiences for the visitor. Relax and enjoy comfortable Motel Accommodation, Powered Sites or “rough it“ under the stars in well maintained campgrounds. Glen Helen has a long history as a popular tourist location, and could possibly be better described as an Outback Lodge. Glen Helecakes its charm from its traditional bush welcome and atmosphere. The view of stunning cliffs and riverbed is dominating and impressive as guests relax outdoors on the back verandah, or sit in more comfort in the lounge area.

Our specialty is good old fashioned Australian hospitality, and you can look forward to a warm welcome. The Glen Helen Homestead captures the authentic Outback style. This restored and enlarged Station Homestead has a charming atmosphere, with photos of the surrounding natural features and memorabilia of the early years of the business

Enjoy a cold beer at the bar before dining in the renowned Namatjira Resturant and Gallery, or cook a barbeque outdoors while enjoying the sunset. In winter relax in front of a cosy open fireplace, and in summer laze by the swimming pool or the Glen Helen Gorge waterhole. Hike through the ranges on the Larapinta Trail, swim through Glen Helen Gorge, take a lilo up Redbank Gorge or really get a birds eye view from a Scenic Helicopter Flight.

For most of the year you can enjoy quality entertainment five nights a week in the Homestead, with a variety of resident musicians bringing even more Australian flavour to your stay.

The compact non-smoking motel rooms offer full linen and towels, ensuite bathrooms and modern reverse cycle air conditioning.

The configurations offered are either queen and single bed or queen and double bunks, enabling up to 4 persons per room.

All rooms offer close access to lovely views of the Glen Helen Gorge.

The motel surrounds an inviting swimming pool, and is also less than 10 minutes walk from the stunning Glen Helen Gorge Water Hole, which has water in it year round and is superb and safe for swimming.

Guests are often rewarded with sightings of wildlife including many bird species, rock wallabies, dingoes, lizards, and hosts Colin and Shelagh can help with many identifications.

Wonderful star viewing is available directly from the resort.

Glen Helen Resort is a remote outback lodge style property, with great access to the Western End of the spectacular West MacDonnell Ranges National Park. Motel rooms are simple but comfortable, with private bathrooms and modern airconditioning. Restaurant and Bar facilities complete a comfortable and relaxing Outback experienceDriving Directions from the East (Alice Springs):• Follow Larapinta Drive west on signs to Hermannsburg. Travel approx 50km• Turn right onto Namatjira Drive at Glen Helen sign• Follow the sealed road (Namatjira Drive) 80km to the signs to Glen Helen Gorge.• The Glen Helen Gorge/Resort entrance is on the left Driving Directions from the West (Kings Canyon- 4WD*):. Drive North from Kings Canyon on sealed road (12km) which then becomes the unsealed Larapinta Drive( Mereenie Loop Road.)Travel approx 120km.• Turn left onto Namatjira drive, a sealed road, at signs to Tnorala and Glen Helen .• The Glen Helen Gorge/Resort entrance is on the right after approx 100km(* Please note that at this stage ONLY 4WD vehicles are recommended on the unsealed Mereenie Loop Road. The road can be quite rough and could be dangerous as up-keep is limited. Please drive at a safe speed on this road. )
