All hotels and facilities at Ayers Rock Resort are owned by one company. There are no other hotels other than this resort at Ayers Rock. Outback Pioneer Hotel is the cheapest of all hotels in Ayers Rock Resort yet the room charge for a single person for a room with bathroom was US $165. My room had two bunk beds (double decker). I used the top one as I felt the distance between the lower and upper was kind of short. There were no ladders to climb. I used the chair. The room had attached bathroom with shower and a toilet. It had a refrigerator,coffee/tea pot and toaster. The room air conditioner did cool the room but as it cycled it made loud noises. The hotel has several small buildings with about four rooms in each. The walkways to the building are faintly lighted at night. I saw several big lizzards (Iguanas) lying in the yard. So at night it was kind of scary although these lizzards are harmless. Snakes could also cohabitate there in the desert. The hotel does have a cafe/restaurent and a bar with barbequee facility. Also has camping facilities. There is a free shuttle van making rounds in the resort area. Also free buses to and from the airport for all flights are available. Everything else is very expensive. A small bottle of water AU $4! Uluru Express offers the cheapest tour/transportation to the rocks and can be booked thru the travel desk at the hotel. The other copmany AAAT KING is quite expensive. Ayers Rock is unique but not very facinating as I see it. If one wants to include it in his/her itenerary one needs to include a large sum in the budget too.

"The choice of accomodation at the Ayres Rock resort is fairly limited. We chose the Voyages Outback Pioneer Hotel mainly on price. However we were more than happy with the service, room, facilities and staff. I'd recommend this hotel to any of my friends without hesitation."

"To far from the center town but cheap. We have ordered for baby bed which normally is free but here you have to paid. For internet access, you have to pay 3 times the price!"

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Outback Pioneer. The rooms were a nice size and it is in very close proximity to the Olgas and Uluru. What was really fun was the "cook your own" BBQ and the food was very tasty. "

"a clean " YMCA" for the price of a four-five stars hotel in Sydney or Paris..... Wellcome, you are in Yulara Hotel Resort and the Outback Pioneer Hotel is the less expensive.... the BBQ restaurant is OK and you can also cook yourself in a special kitchen if you want...and even if you have seen in photos the Rock a thousand times is something really great to see...something really strong in my mind now... kind regards Didier ps: sorry for my poor english !!!!
