| "Unfortunately there aren't too many choices of hotels in Ayers Rock. Sails in the Desert is touted as the best but it did not measure up to the standards of comparably priced hotels elsewhere. We were able to get a great rate through Asia Rooms but it was still not a good value considering the facilities of the hotel. The rooms are very basic, the restaurants very pricey and the grounds mediocre. The patio furniture was dirty with cobwebs on the chairs. The staff though was very friendly and helpful and that was a plus. They accommodated us with a hospitality room after we had to check out so that we could clean up after our tour that day. On the whole they could do a lot to warrant the prices they charge." |

| "I'm probably not the right person to write an unbiased review about this hotel. We originally had 2 spa rooms booked, one for myself and my husband and the other for our 2 teenage children. It was quite expensive however we were told that there were no rooms available to take the 4 of us and we wanted the weekend to be memorable. When we arrived the hotel had upgraded one of the rooms to the Presidential Suite... now you can understand why I am biased. Unbeknown to the hotel, our baggage had missed the connecting flight and wouldn't be arriving until sometime the next day so we did have to spend more time than we planned in our rooms. It was fabulous having a private spa on the balcony in the spa room and all the extra space in the Presidential Suite. It definitely gets my vote." |

| "The Hotel as such is very good, the rooms are clean and spacious, on our wish we were given 2 rooms on the upper floor which we appreciated very much. The food at the buffet dinner is very good but the whole dining area lacks a bit of atmosphere - rather cold, not only due to exessive climatisation. The only critical remarks concerns the tour help desk: the help desk is not a help desk because on every question the girl attending the tour desk tells you to have a look at the multitude of broshures - for that you don't need someone. The tours offered are rather disappointing and way to expensive. Too little time at the spot - very poor explanations - not very convincing. Better take a rental car (if you are lucky to get one) and tour the area on your own." |

| "While the room was comfortable and the staff excellent, I did not think the hotel was anything special, certainly not 5 star. It was vastly overpriced!" |

| "Advertised as the premier hotel within the Voyages Ayers Rock Resort Complex. Certainly my wife and I found it to be a very comfortable base for a two night visit to Uluru and its surroundings. The facilities were of a good standard and the staff generally helpful and friendly.
My wife and I ate dinner in the two main restaurants (Kuniya and Winkuku) during our stay. The food and wine in the Kuniya restaurant was excellent, as it should be in a costly restaurant; although I challenged the idea that orange-blossom mashed potato was a wise accompaniment to any dish, particularly a good steak - it would, however, have worked well as an air-freshner! Apparently there was even debate amongst the chefs regarding the quantity of oil/essence/whatever that should be used. A word of advice - none would be good!
Sadly, the service in the other restaurant(Winkuku) was appalling. Staff were poorly managed, poorly trained, and poorly performing with potential clients being turned away whilst tables remained uncleared; tables not being cleared between courses - unforgiveable when buffet service is being offered; and very slow and inaccurate service (neighbouring table waited 90 minutes for a cocktail to be delivered and when it was it was incorrect - to quote "we are not impressed".) When challenged about the poor service the staff attempted to justify rather than apologise or attempt to address the issues.
We had colleagues staying in one of the other resort hotels (the Desert Sands) and it was interesting to hear that their primary criticism was also regarding the uniformly poor levels of service within hotel restaurants. As all of us had been staying earlier in the month at another Voyages resort (Heron Island) we had a basis for direct comparison with other Voyages resort hotels.
With their resort monopoly at Ayers Rock, Voyages really need to get their act together and invest in high quality staff training and performance monitoring. They have a pleasant and potentially enthusiastic workforce at their disposal who are letting themselves and the resort down and, primarily, not meeting customers' expectations in a premier resort hotel." |

| "Hello, I could not use the 'minus' or 'plus' signs in the rating above. The Sails resort was only average:
On the minus side, the room was grotty - it was'nt clean - dead beetles etc. and there was a musty smell. The sofa, carpet and chairs looked like they had been found at a caravan site. The service was served cold - the staff at reception were not that friendly or interested in how I found the room. They were also very understaffed around the pool at lunch.
The rest of the hotel was nicely done from an interior perpesctive and the restaurant (kinunya) was excellent - service and food.
Ayres Rock was amazing to see and I did some great tours through the hotel but if I was recommending to a friend, then I would tell them to choose another hotel.
There is absolutely no way that it merits 5 Stars so anyone going there will be disappointed. I would go with one of the other hotels - clean, basic and at a cheaper rate rather than pay these prices for a substandard and dirty room. " |

| "NOT A 5 STAR HOTEL!
Rooms and common parts dirty. Furnishings worn and stained. Room cleaning abysmal. Hot indicator tsp missing. 5 star is Oriental Bangkok not this rubbish." |
