| "No room service for first 3 days. This is standard. One of the people at the front desk was surly. When I wanted to swap towels that I had used for 3 days and on a trip to the barrier reef, which they arranged and received a booking fee for, they gave me a hard time - only two towels allowed for 4 people and she was doing me a big favor. | "We had a very spacious apartment which over looked the beach however, the beach water is a little dirty and has many problems such as crockadiles and stingers it is about 15 mins from the main city so a little bit out of the way. The hotel however was lovely and the staff were very helpful with booking trips etc if you have a car this hotel would be perfect. " |

"The rooms are a decent size, with a separate living/dining area. We chose this hotel because it is close to Cairns airport (early morning flight), but it would be difficult to get around without a car (Cairns about 10Km, Port Douglas about 40Km). Holloways Bay has a limited choice of restaurants (there are none at the hotel), although 'Coolums' across the street was very nice. There was plenty of car parking space. The hotel reception, which shuts at about 6pm, doubles as a tour desk. Our kitchen had a row of tiny ants which were not much of a problem, but they would find any unsealed food left on the worktops."

"The grounds were beautiful! The rooms could use an upgrade. Having a washer/dryer was very helpful. The front desk was great at setting up tours and taxis. It was nice to be in a quiet beachside area...relaxing!"

"Excellent hotel. The room was more like an apartment than simply a room as it had full self catering facilities. The room was so good in fact, we asked if we had been upgraded! Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when trying to organise trips. Their were plenty of places to buy good food and eat out. It was also situated right on the beach, close to the swimming area. 100% would use this hotel again!"

"Cairns beach resort is a pleasure to stay at, it is located in a quite residential area next to the beach and within easy reach of Cairns, airport, rainforrest and beaches. The staff are friendly and helpful, the apartments are ideal, clean, large, well decorated and the appliances and great. I wouldn't definately stay here again."

"The location is great if you don't want to be disturbed. Not so good if you are looking for some night life after 7pm. We were there during 'stinger' season so we could not use the beach which was very close to the hotel. The salt water pool was great. Staff was very helpful with booking our trips to the numerous sights, diving and snorkeling on the reef, etc. We were very happy with this facility and ended up staying extra nights rather than moving up the coast to Port Douglas. Taxi rides outside of the resort were expensive, but the cost of the nearby tours and trips were included in the bookings. A small grocery store and bottle shop provided all the amenities we needed. Restaurants nearby are ok, but nothing great. "
