Good accomodation with lovely views on the harbour. A bit far from city center but a good start point to visit Cairns surroundings and Barrier Reef. Restaurant service very slow...

| "The first night we stayed was perfect. The room overlooked the sea and was a large and spacious, comfortable room and the staff could not have been more pleasant, welcoming and helpful. We felt very special.Perfect.
On our return, the room was on a lower floor, faced the other way, was smaller, but adequate. The lady who checked us out was sullen and unfriendly. The first person in Australia not to smile and say a friendly greeting.
We ate in the dining room that night. The young boy and girl who helped us were very nice, and an older man too, but there was a young blonde northern European girl who seemed in charge who was very officious and unpleasant about the fact that my sister was a vegetarian and there was nothing on the menu she could eat. However the young asian boy asked the cook and he made a nice vegetarian pasta dish.
If we had not previously stayed the night of the 17th, our ratings would be much lower. " |

| "The hotel is best described as fine. The hotel room was very average and could probably do with a refurb. Internet access for business travellers is expensive. The hotel is very much an average tourist spot. The 20 min walk to the centre of Cairns is pleasant but at times a little inconvenient but apparently they offer a shuttle. Stay here if you have to but if you can get a similar priced room in downtown such as Holiday Inn there is nothing that this hotel has extra to keep you on the edge of town. All in all a distinctly average experience. " |

| "I have stayed at this hotel on a numder of occasions. Can not fault it.
The person complaining about Reception being crowed should perhaps engage their brain! In my experience it is typical of Asian travel groups to arrive en-mass 20 or more.
Please be patient." |

| "The reception is over crowded in the morning time and they don't have time to cope with the claims from their guests. We had reserved for a harbor view room but they served us a mountain view room. We found their mistake in the morning and ask them to check our voucher again but they were busily workung and simply said 'no, your booking is for a mountain view room'.
If you are planning to stay this hotel, it's better to printing out two copies of the voucher and keep haveing one with you." |

| "The Mercure Harbourside hotel is 15 to 20 minutes walk to the center but a shuttle bus is provided for hotel guests. Would be better if they had more trips. Every 2 hrs. is too long of an interval. Rooms are big and clean. Staff are courteous and friendly. Lobby is too small considering the number of hotel guests. It's always crowded in the morning with people going on tours, checking in or checking out." |
