The Rydges Resort is at the end of the Esplanade which is a good walk down the boardwalk to all of the shops and is at the opposite end of the Lagoon Pool and Great Barrier Reef Cruises. The hotel was nice but offered no ammenities for the price. The in-room safe was $3.50 a day, after paying the room rate, why not include it in the rate? The towels that you take to the Reef cost, I could see if you didn't return them....it's like everything is A-La-Carte after the room rate.
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the shuttle service was prompt and on-time.
Good location to the airport and downtown.

| "The Rydges Esplanade is located on the far end of the Esplanade -- away from most of the hustle and bustle. It is about 5+ city blocks from the area where most of the restaurants and shops are located on the Esplanade, although a convenience store is located on the Rydges compound. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with a living and dining room, two balconies, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and 2-1/2 baths. The accomodations were well kept and roomy. We had a terrific view of the ocean. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend this hotel / apartment complex despite its distance from the Esplanade 'central' area." |
