"Overall hotel room is ok except for the toilet flush. We can handle the waiting time for the next flush to go but not the unpleasant service of the male staff who attended with our complain as we are the one who is trying to be polite and nice with him. As a staff in customer service, he needs re-training. Thanks "

"overall my stay is ok. just want to highlight the service of the reception staff (night shift) has a lot of room for growth. the first night we arrived, we tried to clarify a few things via the phone with your night staff Michelle, she was impatient, rude and unprofessional. in fact, my wife asked her about the safety box and got an unsatisfactory answer. so i called again. Michelle got so impatient thinking we did not understand her ( in fact, she told us the charge per night for the safety box was $4.95 , but the box itself stated $5.95. we also wanted to clarify how it works in terms of whether the $4.95 applies to the next 24 hours or up till 12am every midnight because there was no instruction written on the box! i.e. what does $4.95 mean?? so when i called up, Michelle was already annoyed, raised her voice and said " How many times do i have to tell your wife about the safety box???" and she told me rudely " can you hang on the line, i have to attend to my customer" and i was left on the phone for a few minutes. i was thinking, am i not her customer also?? shouldn't she politely tell me she had to attend to someone else and would call me later when she has settled her current customer? mind you, australia is the only country i have been to where a hotel charges customers for the use of the safety box. all other hotels in other countries in Asia provide the service free of charge. So, since we are not from australia, is it a crime that we didn't understand how things work (mind you we are tourists!) do your customers deserve such rude treatment? i even asked her if this is IBIS corporate culture. no apologies given, in fact i had to apologise for her 'inconvenience'. it seems your night shift staffs lack the most basic training and manners to deal with small issue like this. The morning shift staff are much better. I would like to commend Rebecca who was helpful in various ways including helping us to book a taxi on time etc. "

"The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, only big problem with this hotel is the refurbishment works going on.. it is extremely noisy all day on the higher floors, you should be ok though if your on the lower floors. The location is good, a short walk from the main shopping areas. The information displayed on the website regarding the fitness facilities is misleading though, it is are not in the hotel, but the local fitness centre. This however is just up from the hotel and is very good, at a small cost of about $6 for use of both the fitness centre and pool, and less for just use of the pool. "

"the room is very standard and it means you need to bring everything from home as they didn't provide some amenities and you have to buy for it. no biscuits for snack time in the room, but they did provide coffee and tea making facilities. there is not too many choices for breakfast but that's okay. Located near the queen victoria market, just a stroll away and within walking distance to melbourne center. overall, not bad for budget traveller like me.thanks asiarooms."

"There is no lift from car park to hotel lobby. You have to carry all your luggage through stairs & this is very troublesome. Not very good if you are driving. But it is very close to Queens Victoria Market, which is a plus point. "

"Service was excellent, Derej, the manager who works at night on April 1, 2008 was very helpful and very kind person, he help us getting all the tours that we want to do in lest than one hour of our arrival to Melbourne and we got there at 1:30 in the morning, excellente service and excellent person. Thank you very much for all the things you did for us. Regards,Patricia DiDonato"

"The check in was quick and we got our room imediately, even though we arrived around lunchtime. The room was quite small, but adequate for a few nights. Only complaint about the room was that the aircon didn't seem to work- whether we turned it up or down it made no difference to the temperature. The hotel is on the outskirts of the CBD, so it is a bit of a walk into the main shopping area, however there are alot of trams at the end of the road. It is very close to a market where you can get a great breakfast. Coming fromteh airport you can get an express bus and then a minibus is included in the price which will take you direct to this hotel."

"My wife and I in Melbourne for the Aust. Open Tennis Championships enjoyed the accomodation and excellent, courteous service extended to us by the front counter staff.Location was good, cleaniness prevailed and the prices were excellent. We would reccommend the Ibis and come and stay again should the occasion arise. "

"My family and I enjoyed our stay in Ibis very much due to several reasons below: - Good and clean facilities - Good location (near Queen Victoria Market and many restaurants/shops) - Courteous counter staff "
3/5  Posted by MR. CHIA, Kim Pang, Singapore in December 2007
"It was a pleasant stay. I was only looking at reasonable accommodation and the place was good compared to booking two hotel rooms as I have 4 persons. The Ibis provided a good sleep over room and the basics that are required. Will stay in the Ibis again. The reception staff are very helpful. "
