I liked the minimalist style. Room had what I needed, nothing more. Decent views. Cafe on ground floor does nice breakfasts.

| "It is not flash but very well priced and a wonderful location. We love the Melbourne Markets so this is perfect.
Rooms have been cleverly refurbished from the old Hotel Y days (actually we know it from even before that). The coloured louvres are just lovely. As are the colour themed floors. Neat touches that didn't take much but make a large difference to you experience.
Staff were absolutely first rate. We arrived at about 7am and were directed straight to our room even though check in was not until 2pm that day. It was very welcome as we had flown the red-eye from Perth.
Second evening we had several rooms full of idiots around us who partied all night. The night porter did everything possible on several occasions but short of evicting these clowns on his own there was nothing that could be done with them.
Next morning we asked what could be done and the staff immediately offered an alternative room on another floor and offered to move all our stuff if we would pack it. They even shifted a little glass of flowers that we had bought to the new room. Fantastic. Can't speak highly enough of them.
Practicalities. My only complaint is the same one as EVERY hotel I've ever stayed in. The doors are way too noisy. They cannot be closed without a bang even if you try and very few people ever do. I understand the security issues but this is really intrusive.
Transport links right at the front door, restaurants and shopping right at the front door. What more could you possibly want.
Didn't use room service or the in-house dinig so can't comment." |

| "The Jasper was recommended by friends as a centrally located, clean and "chintz free" spot for exploring Melbourne and my friend and I found it an ideal base for a two night visit to Melbourne.
Location is handy with tram stop outside but apart from market, the vicinity is pretty unspectacular so be prepared to walk 15 minutes into town or get on a tram to Lygon St etc for attractive bars, restaurants and cafes.
The twin room was spacious and immaculately clean.... flat screen TV, plenty of space for luggage. Room felt newly decorated in and minimilist black, white with hot neon slatted bathroom window. Black out blinds also blocked out unappealing view of rooftop. Watch out for corridor colours if you're hung over, the 4th floor was totally hot red! Didn't have breakfast or use PC's and laundry on each floor. Overall, it's a wonderfully clean, chintz free, fairly priced base in central Melbourne." |

| "We are in our 60's and wanted a quiet room. We got that on the 7th floor with a view across the market. It felt a quiet safe and very conveniently positioned spot from which to walk thru the city centre and down to the river.A choice of food shops with Asian and nearby University type eateries. Easy transport system passes the front door. We would book again, but we would also book in a cheaper less well appointed place, so its not exactly budget price." |

| "Jasper Hotels location is fantastic for the markets, the trams and other public transport, and with only a short walk to Lygone St for fabulous restaurants, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Great cafes right outside the door with great coffee and freindly staff. Hotel staff were very helpful and the rooms were tidy and very functional." |
