My favourite Melbourne hotel (Hatton- South Yarra) was booked out, so on a whim I decided to look into staying at the Windsor. Asiarooms had good rates for a Deluxe room so we booked it. We arrived at the hotel a bit before midday which was earlier than the official checkin time. The staff got off on the wrong foot when the doorman failed to notice or arrival so didn't open the door or assist with our (albeit light) luggage. That was followed by The receptionist not having to coutesy to even check if a room was available to accomodate a slightly early checkin. He simply said "Checkin time is at 2:00. Leave your bags with concierge." The lobby looks a bit tired and in need of renovation to make it a bit more "grand" in keeping with the hotel's projected image.
Upon our return at 2:00 all was redeemed. Our room was ready, our bags had already been taken upstairs and we had been given a room at the front of the hotel overlooking Parliament House. The Deluxe room wasn't enormous, but the high cieling created a greater sense of space. I liked the fact that one entered into a small anteroom with doors leading off into the bedroom and bathroom. The room was well laid out and clasically furnished without being twee.
Those who like their hotels American Beige or late 90s "boutique" dark wood veneer and frosted glass (which is now so much the rage) won't like the Windsor. Anyone wanting to escape such ubiquity will love it.

| "The rooms were slightly old fashioned. We had two single beds rather than two double/queen beds which we could have had since the room was large. Staff very friendly." |

| "Absolutley sensational. We had heard so much about the Windsor, and it certainly lived up to every expectation. Looking forward to the refurbishment next year. Well done Asia Rooms for a fabulous price." |

| "Two problems, (1) we stayed on the third floor and unfortunately the floor surface above must be made of wood because we could clearly hear movement, every time the person(s) above moved around their room (foot steps). The noise was such that it stopped us going to sleep in the eveninig and woke us in the morning. IF we stay in the Windsor again it would not be on the third floor.
(2) Dispite leaving the room at 1000 to tour Melbourne, with the please clean up our room sign on the door, when we returned at 4pm, to shower & change for dinner and a show, the room had not been serviced. We had to call for a service, which then required us to wait, and then we were rushed to get ready for our dinner booking at 5.30 and ultimately make the 7.30 show. " |

| "Service by all contacted was good and what is to be expected by this class of hotel.
Compared to the actual room size the bathroom was hopeless, 2 people could not move in it. No place to put personnel bathroom ammendities for 1 let alone 2 people.
The room overlooked an alleyway and every morning got woken by delivery & garbage trucks." |
