"The location was fabulous. However we met with an unhelpful receptionist. We arrived at 8am after a 5 hour flight and asked if if was possible to have an earlier check in. There were several families leaving at that time. The receptionist turned down our request and asked us to return at 2pm. Obviously it takes no more than 2 hours do clean up a room. The receptionist could have asked us to return at around 10 or 11am to see if there is any room available. We would not have minded paying for the extra hours. Anyway we left for breakfast and returned at 11am and asked again. The same receptionist was not pleased. By then we were both very exhausted. Fortunately we rented a car. Of course we ended up sleeping inside the car...not a very good start for our vacation. "

"Poorest by far of 10 similar level locations we stayed on this trip. Down at heel, badly underinvested and frankly much more like a 1* backpackers than a 2/3 star motel. Kitchen contents of dubious cleanliness - we had to wash everything before use and some utensils were not usuable. In 2007 an ancient matches lit gas cooker is not acceptable. All of this is a pity as the location is excellent."

"The room looked old and dim, though the toilet looks neat. Kitchen is equipped, but probably the previous guests didnt wash the crockery, it still remained dirty when I checked. It shows housekeeping is not done properly. Won't stay again even though location is not too bad."

"City Waters offers value for money accommodation in a lovely location overlooking the Swann river. Although rooms are basic in style they are functional and serviced daily. Staff are very friendly and informative and they have lots of leaflets in reception to help you decide what to do during your stay. The main shopping area's and the CBD are within easy walking distance as is Barrick Road jetty. It is close to major roads which makes Perth suburbs and other surrounding cities easily accessible. Parking our hire car was our only issue as parking on site is limited - however, there is public parking outside the grounds."

"Only good point is the location that's near to the swan river and about 10-15 mins walk to shopping area. BUT had noticed other better hotels that's nearer to CBD at the same rate and probably a better view since City Water is only 3 storeys high. More like a lodge/hostel than hotel. 5-10 mins walk to ~4 car rental companies. Reception definitely not so friendly and knowledgeable. Imagine was told that the police station was closed at 6pm+ while I found out next morning that it was 24hrs."

"Overall the stay at city waters is pretty pleasant. The kitchen and bathroom are very clean. The only cons is that the mattress is really too soft . Should have a change. We literally suffer backache almost every other day for the 5 nights we were there."

"The best thing about the City Waters Motel is its location.Thats it really .The room was dark and grubby, painted a grim hospital green with badly fitting apparently home made wooden cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom. The overall appearence internally was of an institution -very depressing as our first impression of accommodation in Australia .Fortunately everywhere else we stayed in Oz & NZ over the next five weeks was a vast improvement! The lady in the front office appeared to be having a bad day when we arrived as she was monosyllabic and didn't even look at us let alone show us to the room-this after a twenty three hour journey from the UK was a bit offputting .Fortunately everyone else we met made up for her !"

"I think City Waters really represented great value for money. It's location along Terrace Road faces the rather scenic Swan River and is central enough to be within reasonable walking distance of the CBD. So, proximity to shopping and eateries are never a problem. Service wise, I think one of the staff there, Pauline, deserves commendation for helping me make my trip a very pleasant one. She was very professional and offered good advice and help in booking my tours. The single bedroom apartment actually consisted of a double bed and 2 single bunkers. So it can actually sleep 4 person very comfortably! The apartment did look a little dated, but it was clean and well-maintained. It even had the most advanced casement aircon I had ever seen. The bathroom actually had a tub and although the kitchen was small, it was fully equipped with gas stoves and oven, fridge, microwave and kitchen sink. Complimentary instant coffees, teas, sugars and even condiments such as pepper and salt were provided. Too bad, they did not provide cooking oil (I had to purchase a 500ml bottle just to make my own breakfast for 2 days and ended up throwing the rest all away) but that was just a minor blip."

"Great location, easy access to restaurants, shops & car rentals. However, rooms are in need of refurbishing and service standard is lacking among some of the staff. "

"The location is very ideal especially you have to be around the CBD area for shopping or business matter. The room is overall very clean & tidy. Kitchen facilities is well equipped. For families, it'll better if there is washine machine and dryer facilities. Overall, it is a very pleasant stay."
