We stayed at the junior suite and it was really overpriced for what it was. It wasn't really a suite, there was no sofa, it was more like a slightly larger standard room. It had a good sized balcony but the view was of a lot of colourbond roofs. The bathroom was the best part, had no windows but did have a nice big corner spa, 2 sinks and a separate shower. The location was great, easy walking distance from anywhere you'd want to go in Freo.

| "Other than the strategic location of the hotel, I was fairly disappointed with the room. 1st, was the condition of the room, which was abit old and the king size bed frame doesn't even come with a headboard! 2ndly, our room was right at the end of the hotel which was quite abit of walking distance. During check-in, we highlighted to the reception that we hv young kids in tow so would very much appreciate a room near the lobby and they told us it was very near. In my opinion, they weren't very responsive to our needs and caring too." |

| "The location is perfect but then this hotel has a total monopoly in the centre of Freemantle, it has no real competition, which means that it is expensive and poor value. Breakfeast $31., a small bottle of water from the room fridge $6.10. The main area inside is dominated by a huge cafe style restaurant and there is a constant smell of food. During our weekend there were 5 weddings receptions and one christening party.
This is bad news for any residents.
We paid under $200 per night for the room which was reasonable but the full rack rate was over $400 which is excessive by any standards.
The room overlooking the pool, was dark and depressing Grey walls, grey carpet, and grey ceiling, insufficient lighting. No bedside lights, no main light,no headboard and no chest of drawers Half the wardrobe space was occupied by a fridge packed full of overpriced drinks, plus shelves full of other over priced items.
We lived out of the suitcases as there was nowhere to put anything. The staff repeatedly entered the room
on various flimsy excuses, without knocking properly or pausing. This caused a major row on our last morning.
This hotel has such a monopoly that it can and does just please itself.
Holding as many public functions as possible seems to be it's main purpose.

| "This is my second stay at the Esplanade Hotel.
This time I went back for myt honeymoon. The standard of service we received was excellent as always. Highly recomended, but not cheap, but well worth the money for that special occasion." |
