We stayed at the Sea Temple in a two bedroom apartment for 4 days. This resort is perfect for families, couples, groups of friends etc. We enjoyed treatments at the spa, which I would recommend, we have the hot stone treatment which was devine. The pool area is amazing, with differing depths suitable for all ages and abilities. Would certainly return to the resort.

| "The hotel was much further out of town than the website led me to believe. There was a (fairly) regular bus service into town, but very expensive.
There are no plugs in the bathroom basins, so you can't soak or wash something small that you don't want to send to the laundry.
The room information folder and room service menu was out of date. So was the massage and beauty therapy folder.
The room service menu was shocking - food too heavy and just a cut-down version of the restaurant menu which we didn't choose to go to because it was overpriced and pretentious.Chef not worth paying. People order room service because they are tired/unwell/have already eaten a big meal earlier in the day/ feel like something relaxed and informal. Nothing appropriate was on the menu. Where was soup, a sandwich, toast, salad, pasta? I finally chose a risotto only to be told at about 8:30 pm that it was finished. What rubbish! Any half decent chef can make a risotto and I don't believe they had run out of rice. There was a function on (another reason why guests don't want to dine in the restaurant) and I believe he just couldn't be bothered!
There is really nowhere in the hotel to have a light and healthy snack - the only option is back into town on the expensive bus.
Breakfast is also too expensive. We walked to town and ate at half the price.
Won't stay so far out of town again." |

| "The most fantastic place to relax and recouperate.
The lagoon is absolutely divine: public if you want to be, and secluded if wanted as well!!!
We stayed in a studio with the most fantastic bathroom...EVER! However, due to the space required for the bathroom, the room ends up being slightly small. Also disappointing was the lack of microwave/ DVD player. However, despite this, we would definitely go again with friends in order to get a swim up apartment. " |

| "We booked into Sea Temple for 5 nights during our honeymoon because it looked like a relaxing haven of romance and tranquility. To a certain extent it was, however, our 5 night stay was spoilt to a large extent by a large Aviva conference which had literally taken over the hotel for the same time that we were there. This was disappointing as it is a relatively small hotel that does not seem to have the space or facilities to have conferences of this size. The ambience in the bar area was spoiled, there were always hundreds of people milling around the reception area etc. We felt like second class citizens.
The hotel should decide whether it is aiming for the romance and peaceful 'spa' end of the market or for business conferences because the two do not mix well in a small hotel like this.
The service suffered too. We missed several shuttle buses into Port Douglas as there was a line of coaches waiting to take delegates out in the way and the shuttles kept missing us. Also I couldn't get a spa appointment for me or my husband when we wanted one due to the delegates partners filling them all up.
On the day we wanted to go snorkelling on the GBR, we ordered breakfast in bed and it arrived wrong - we'd ordered eggs on toast and a full breakfast and 2 full breakfasts turned up. Also we were missing a fork. By the time they'd gone back to the restaurant to collect a fork and returned with it my breakfast was stone cold. Also they didn't send us orange juice or toast.
Video on demand in room was good but one of the movies got stuck and although it was refunded we never got to watch it or an apology.
The studio room was nice, we liked the indoor spa bath. However, given that we were on honeymoon it would have been nice to be upgraded, especially since the hotel seemed half empty (apart from us and the conference delegates!)
The swimming pool was lovely, and the swim out rooms were great, but a lot of them were in the shade, so it would depend where you were situated as to whether you'd use it to sunbathe in or not.
The pool music was awful. One day the bartender played Jack Johnson which was great and suitably ambient, however the rest of the time it was heavy rock and didn't suit the location at all.
The cocktails were lovely, the food great at the restaurant though. One waitress (Miriam from Singapore) was particularly friendly and pleasant.
All in all, it's a stunning hotel, but the stretch of 'four mile beach' it's located on is not very nice - very narrow and wild. We would go back but stop in a one or two bed apartment rather than a studio room, and we'd make sure there were no conferences on at the same time. " |
