Hotel Review posted by Gordon Ohning, Italy in March 2003

Excellent location with easy access to rail transit system (2 block walk) and bus system (1.5 block walk). Next to Chinatown area and 1 block to major shopping area ("Paddy's"). Plan full days of activities as Cable TV includes only a few local (and weird) channels. No CNN, so must rely on newspaper for any news of substance (or simply ignore the rest of the world if you are on vacation). Rooms were O.K., but not stellar.

Ask for second room card-key as you will need a card-key to "activate" the room (lights, A/C, TV, Etc.) and this can be a problem when you want to leave for a short period, but not let the room warm up (or leave your room-mate in the dark). Staff are very courteous and helpful. Only bad episode was when another new guest was given access card for our room...due to computer error, apparently...and this was quickly resolved and staff seemed genuinely embarrassed by the episode. Reasonable buffet in first floor restaurant, but a lot of local competition within a few blocks.

"The hotel is located near Paddy's market and central station; however, there is no gym and the swimming pool is quite small. The service is just average. "

"Located away from most of the "must see" locations but none the less a convenient stop at a some what lower price than other hotels. Near China Town and on major bus routes to the harbour areas."

"The hotel is conveniently located near the Central Railway Station and Chinatown. But you need to use the exit near Broadway, otherwise there is a fair bit of walking to do. It's not close to the shopping malls, but you can always catch a bus to go down George Street. The room rate is very competitive for what it offers. We got a good sized room. In fact it is bigger than some 5 star hotels that I have stayed in Sydney before. On the downside there are no bell boys at the entrance. We had to "haul" our luggages up the front steps to the hotel lobby. We later found out that there's a "hidden" path that leads from the hotel to the entrance of the adjoining carpark where you can then reach the street level. "

"The location is excellent. Room is very spacious and relatively clean. The room cost is reasonable. "
