| "The Shangrai La hotel in Sydney was a BIG disappointed. Altough we got a room upgrade with super views of the harbour bridge and Opera house we were let down by our stay here.
The sheets on our bed were worn and fraying (not something you would expect from a 5 Star hotel). The health spa was very basic and you could hear the television while getting a massage.
The level of service up in the Horizon bar left alot to be desired - I ordered a bottle of wine only for the bar man to open up the bottle, leave it on the counter not pouring us a glass of wine, when i asked him to open it, he looked like it was a sheer inconvience. I wouldnt not recommend this 5 star hotel at all and would assess other other 5 star hotels in the area before choosing this one. " |

| "WE STAYED AT THE SHANGRI-LA SYDNEY FOR 2 NIGHTS ON A SHORT STOP OFF IN SYDNEY. THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL IS PERFECT AND IN OUR OPINION OFFERS ARGUABLY ONE OF IF NOT THE BEST VIEWS ACROSS DARLING HARBOUR, THE OPERA HOUSE AND SYDNEY BRIDGE OF ALL THE HOTELS IN THE ROCKS AREA. WE STAYED IN A DELUXE GRAND HARBOUR VIEW ROOM WHICH GAVE UNENVIABLE VIEWS OF BOTH THE BRIDGE AND OPERA HOUSE NIGHT AND DAY AND A REALLY COOL SEATING PLATFORM BUILT UNDER THE WINDOW IN ORDER THAT YOU COULD SIT FOR HOURS AND WATCH THE WORLD GO BY.
THE GRAND HARBOUR VIEW ROOM WOULD BE THE BEST EVER ROOM TO SPEND NEW YEAR IN AS THE VIEW OF FIREWORKS WOULD BE THE BEST IN THE CITY.
ROOM SIZE WAS PERFECT FOR ONE OF THE MORE DELUXE ROOMS AND BATHROOM WAS OVERSIZED WITH FULL BATH AND SEPARATE WALK IN SHOWER WITH RAINFOREST HEAD. STAFF WERE COMPLETELY AS THEY SHOULD BE IN A FIVE STAR HOTEL OF ITS CALIBRE, POLITE, FRIENDLY AND EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THE AREA. FOOD IN THE HOTEL WAS AGAIN SUPERB WITH A VERY LARGE BREAKFAST SELECTION TO CATER FOR ALL TASTES.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AGAIN AND AGAIN FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE IN THE CENTRE OF SYDNEY CLOSE TO ALL THE ATTRACTIONS AND WHO WANTS EXCELLENT VIEWS. ROOMS WERE ALSO VERY QUIET AND DID NOT SUFFER FROM ANY BACKGROUND OR ADJACENT ROOM NOISE. IT IS NOT A CHEAP HOTEL TO STAY IN BY ANY MEANS BUT THE LOCATION AND SERVICE FAR OUTWEIGHT THE COST. " |

| "A delightful room with a separate shower in the bathroom. No shower over the bath for washing hair though.
Through our window we had a lovely view of the Opera House and the hotel was situated very near to the ferries. As the hotel is located in an elevated position it could present problems for the less mobile although there are ways to avoid the hills. Ask the concierge!
The flies were a real menace at the end of October especially in The Rocks area although we have never had problems in Sydney, staying at different hotels, on our previous two visits at different times of the year.
The hotel was rather expensive compared to other Shangri-la hotels so it is definitely not for the budget conscious. The frontage and reception of the hotel are not very impressive unlike the rooms.
