| "I was surprised at the hotel - it was an old style hotel but with pleasant decor. There are no lifts, so probably not suitable for seniors, although there are rooms on the ground floor. The pool was huge and very inviting. There was a gym, and a lobby and it wasnt a problem to get a taxi or tuc-tuc. It wasnt close to the city but only a short ride to the Central Market and riverside.
We asked for an extra bed and it was very comfortable. The water in the showers took a long time to heat up and when we rang reception we were told to run it for 5 minutes! We had a few issues with the airconditioning - couldnt adjust it to a higher temperature but it wasnt freezing either.
The American Breakfast was great - lots of variety and choice. The buffet dinner had lots of variety too.
Our only regret were the illogically expensive charges for telephone calls. Neither of our mobiles worked so we had to resort to making a few calls from our room. The US$3 charge for international calls, even when the other party didnt respond was ridiculous. We queried the bill when we checked out and it was adjusted but it is very unreasonable to charge for calls that dont connect. Telecommunications in Cambodia is impossible without a Cambodian SIM card and only Cambodian citizens can purchase one. We were only there for 4 days so we didnt think it worthwhile to try and get one. I wonder if this sytem is open to lots of rorting as we saw many tourists freely using their mobiles!
But all up, it was a pleasant stay." |

| "When I first checked in the room was beautifully appointed but there was a strong smell of resin, as it had just recently been renovated. It was overwhelming me so I asked the front desk staff to be moved. They were most apologetic, immediately reassigned my room and check with me later to make sure that I was satisfied. I was VERY impressed with the way this was handled. The staff was gracious and friendly no request was too small or too intrusive, the rooms were cozy and comfortable. Smiles all around. A delicious breakfast was available every day, and the food at the Veranda was tasty. A very good value overall." |

| "This hotel was our favorite hotel during our trip to Cambodia. The rooms are very new and clean with comfortable beds. The rooms are all air-conditioned, and the air-conditioning *stays on when you leave the room*, so you can return to a cool room. The pool is very nice. The breakfast buffet is very nice (not as good as the buffet at Imperial Garden, but pretty close) -- it could use some more fruit and better yogurt, but they had good pancakes and real syrup (and the typical omelette and noodle-soup bars).
There is free in-room wired internet access.
This is where we'll stay from now in in Phnom Penh!" |
