Overall it is an unforgettable stay at Sokha Beach Resort Hotel in Sihanoukville. Good service at restaurant, lovable smiles of front desk service and staff and very helpful and patient front dest service who answer questions in very good manner.
But one small unpleasant incident happened which prevent me to rate my stay as a perfect one. I showed up at around 11:00 am on the day and was received very well by the front desk. I was told to wait to check in untill 13:00 when the room is available and that I can go to the swimming pool and beach to enjoy my early arrival. I was having a great time checking out the beach while waiting to check in and a guy from swimming pool showed up trying to get us out there suspecting we are not hotel guests. He asked in good manner: are you from outside? I explained the whole check-in story to him and his English sucks that I do not know if he understands my story or not. It seemed that I was permitted to stay on at the beach but I just lost the mood. I went to the restaurant right away, had lunch and finally checked in.

| "Excellent resort with full 5-star facilities and a beautiful private beach. Bit disappointed by the accessibility/location. Far from town centre and night-life at Sihanoukville's other beaches." |

| "The resort is fairly self contained if you wished you could spent all your time here and not need to go outside its massive grounds. Staff were very helpful. The pool and pool bar were great and you could see the beautiful and very clean beach. Buffet breakfast was great. The Dayspa was very relaxing and worth a visit.
The Lemongrass restaurant which literally seaside has great ambiance and good food. We had a very relaxing time during our 5 night stay at Sokha beach and i wouldn't hesitate in recommending the resort to others." |

| "Quite a disappointment. This is certainly no 5 star hotel, especially not compared to our stay before in Siem Reap (Victoria). We couldn't check in at 13.00 and as we were hungry after a car trip from Phnom Penh, we wanted to have lunch. As a results the welcome drink was forgotten. Plenty of dripping water from cracks in the ceiling during lunch was the second surprise. Had problems with airco, bad smells and damp atmosphere in three of the four rooms we stayed in. After airco-problems at 23.00 our kids were moved to the same room we moved out a few hours before because of above mentioned problems. Everything is already aging. Quite a few staff-members are to idle.
It's great to see 2 gardeners at 7 in the morning, walking to the (great!) gym, but the big dead cockroach in front of our room had a free 3 night stay in the hallway...
Enjoyed: location and atmosphere at the Lemongrass restaurant, nice pool and beautiful beach." |
