| "They did everything right.
Their English is better than my Chinese, but not by much. There was a high percentage of new employees, so that may have lead to a lack of knowledge of things about the hotel.

| "The location of the hotel was very convenient as it was next to the Beijing Institute of Technology, where my husband was attending a science meeting. We stayed in the main (#1) building in which the room was a little dark and shabby, but definitely clean. I was sonewhat disappointed, because 8 years earlier we had stayed in a marvelous modern hotel in downtown Beijing. Friendship Palace does not have a pool, even though it claims to. You must join a health club in another building to be able to use the pool. There is a wonderful garden in the center of the complex, but it was fenced off and not accessible. It would be a major convenience to have a bridge across the main road in front of the hotel, so that guests can more easiy access the mall and Starbucks across the street. We took ou lives in our hands numerous times to cross that street." |

| "We stayed at The Friendship from Oct 8 - 13, 2005. The room was nice, the bathroom just ok. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and the staff is very helpful. There were several who spoke English. The morning breakfast has a lot of Chinese dishes, but there were also eggs, toast, cereal, fresh fruit, and juices & coffee. It was good! The hotel is located about a half hour from the center of the city, but the prices of hotels in the center of the city are double or more. For the price, The Friendship Hotel is a very good choice!" |

| "The Friendship hotel is very nice and the rooms are spacious. It does not have all of the bells and whistles of a big chain hotel, but it is pleasant enough and good value for money. Don't stay here though if you can't handle a bit of wear and tear on fixtures and fittings. The bathroom was clean, but the taps and sink were in need of replacement. The carpet was vacuumed, but had some weird marks on it. Staff are great though and there is free bottled water in the rooms. There is also a bizarre bedside control panel which i never figured out.
Apparently it was built in the 1950s for visiting Soviet dignitaries, but it looks much older.
Overall, a decent place to stay if you have to stay in the area. However it is a long way from the centre of town." |

| "I recommend the Friendship hotel for english speaking foreigners. The service was good. There is a business center.Across the street there is a NY cafe with Illys coffee. I love Illys coffee and it is very difficult to find good coffee in China. The environment is very pleasant and it is very pleasant to look at the gardens from your balcony. I recommend the Friendship hotel for staying in Beijing if you do not speak any chinese and you do not know the chinese culture.
I am stayed at the Beijing Friendship Hotel." |
