Hotel Review posted by Wesley Lau, Hong Kong in July 2005

The Harmony hotel is very near subway station but not within walking distance to the major shopping areas / points of interest. It's fortunate that the taxi fares are very cheap (at most 20RMB from major points of interests). The local style restaurant next to the hotel is very good and costs you only 2-3RMB for a person. The bad side is that the street in front of the hotel is quite busy and noisy. Try to have a room not facing that side.

"Great location and very friendly staff. We rented bikes from the hotel and rode around the city which I would highly recommend doing if you stay here - prices to do this are very cheap. I would recommend staying in this hotel, however don't go for the cheapest kind of bed as the mattresses are very hard - it's worth the little extra money to get a good nights sleep"

"I traveled to China (and Beijing) for two times now, staying at the Harmony on both travels. Having picked it more or less at random when I first traveled to China, starting off in Beijing, I was pleasantly surprised with this place to stay, even without any China reference material and (I admit) not too much in other countries as well. Having since broadened my horizon a bit during my travels in China, and having stayed in hotels in half a dozen of other Chinese cities of compareable standard and class (3-star hotel standard room), I may have encountered more updated and upscaled places next to some somewhat less recommendeable, and met with pleasant and less pleasant surprises at those hotels: both in overall appearance as in the actual day-to-day stay Harmony wins by all means. As a modest and somewhat quiter, medium-sized hotel it might not be anyones cup of tea, but thats exactly what (as for me) gives the Harmony hotel its charm as a both professional and a hospitable place catering to each of its guests on a personal level. Its location on a nice side-ally inbetween central Beijings boulevards, neighbouring directly the Beijing Railway Station (incl. subway and cab-stands) and both a modern mall-area and a typical Beijing hutong its location can be considered both pleasant and effective for getting around. As for the hotel itself: accommodation might be modest, service is THE most congenial I met in China yet_and thats not meant as a critical note to other hotels staff ;) So in short: more as adequate accommodation at a good if not great location with a great staff! "They upgraded my room to a suite because there was no triple-sharing room available. I really love my stay at Harmony Hotel and the staff are very helpful. The location is great!"

"location is good, very near to the railway and local subway staions. rooms were pretty clean but a little old-looking. staff were friendly and very willing to help, price of hotel is reasonable."

"It was a pleasant experience. Knowing that it's not a four star hotel and above, I was very surprised at the hotel's cleanliness and comfortable rooms. it's also in a very centralised location so that's good for tourists who may not be very good at navigation. However, it'll be good if the hotel can beef up its room service menu, as there's not much variety. Would definitely recommend it to friends."
