Stayed for 5 days in Early June 2005.
On arrival i was upgraded to one of the newer rooms on the 11th floor ( top floor ). Had a king size bed that was fine. Room was always well cleaned and comfortable. Like everyone says its location is great. Staff downstairs were always happy and helpfull. I at at the Buffet 2 mornings and the food / price was fine. If you didnt like that there was a Mcdonalds over the road. I slept well everynight - given its great location i never heard a thing i was on the front side of the building in room 1121. I Used the room safe and the Box at the front desk - never had a problem. One day i left my PDA on the Bed by accedent - on my return the staff had put it on the desk beside the bed for me. so there was no problem there. Heaps of Tv channels ( not that i watched much ) 3 English stations.
I never used the Taxi's that were just outside the Hotel as they try to rip you off. There are plenty of ones going past the front of the hotel that you can get. I found the Taxis Cheap and very good considering communication. the front desk always wrote my destination down in chineese. I used the $1.80 Taxis. Great Value.
I would recomend Songhe to anyone considering a Budjet Hotel - it is great value for money. I will use it again.

| "As the hotel location is just a few meter from Wang Fu Jing street (walking street), with full of shopping malls, it is very easy for travellers to have shopping, have standing diner along the stalls that sell various food.
The other advantages, the nearest subway is only around 200 meter (using the small road behind the hotel), as travelling by subway (though we should prestudy the subway routes first) is very enjoyable, fast and cheap. With only fixed 2 RMB/ single route, we travel to the very end of the various route that drive us to various tourist places.
Catholic church is jut besides the hotel, making the catholic people can worship their faith. " |
