The room size is fairly standand, the king size double bed I requested was not available and no complain on cleanliness.
What we like most about the hotel is its excellent location for it's just a minute walk to Nanjing street, The bund is alsowithin walking distance (15-20 min.) and the rest of the city attractions are within reach by taxi. You hae to adjust to the way the driver negotiate through the traffic. Compared to Shanghai I think the taxi drivers in Bangkok are pretty mild.
if you prefer to stay away from the expensive hotel food there are plenty of varieties available in Nanjing street rabging from Shanghai and other chinese cuisine to Japanese ramen, pizza and macdonalds. I would suggest the local food, plenty of restaurants in one of the local shopping centre and the food are both tasty and economical. We tried our first lunch in the hotel's chinese restaurant and it was a big disappointment.
We stayed for an enjoyable four nights, at least my wife does for we had to stuff our baggage with four new pairs of shoes that she purchased, and since our flight out was at 1515 we decided to try the hotel publicised dim sum for brunch before we head off for the airport but was disappointed that at 11.45am the restaurant was still closed.
The hotel staff were not as friendly as we had expected from reading several comments in asiaroom but it doesn't bother me as long we get the service we want.
If I were to visit Shanghai again I would not mind Central more for its location but it is in me that I always like to try different hotel.

| "The people at the reception were rather businesslike, whereas the concierge and the bell boys were very friendly and helpful.
The lobby is nice but rather dull and quiet, but good for people wanting to avoid crowded lobbies.
The location is excellent overlooking the Nanjing pedestrian road.
