Forget the front counter service! When we asked one of women at the desk to ring a restaurant for me - we needed a fluent Mandarin speaker - she declined because she said she didn't have an outside line! On the morning we checked out, there was no morning greeting and no "thank you". Except for one woman on the front counter, we found the women cold and disinterested. Whenever we required any information, we went next door to Howard Johnson, where the assistants at that hotel were friendly and willing to help us with our enquiries.
Perhaps Central Hotel should put their house-keeping employees on the front desk because these people were quick to assist and very courteous too.

| "The people at the reception were rather businesslike, whereas the concierge and the bell boys were very friendly and helpful.
The lobby is nice but rather dull and quiet, but good for people wanting to avoid crowded lobbies.
The location is excellent overlooking the Nanjing pedestrian road.
