We had a wonderful first visit to Shanghai in late January (when it started to snow). The Central Hotel was a great place to stay because the rooms were big and quite comfortable. The only thing I missed was the in-room coffee (only black and green tea were available) but that's all that I felt was lacking in the hotel. The hotel food was great (we ordered room service our first night), location was also unbeatable (next to Nanjing). There's also an in-hotel spa where you can get great foot massages. Lastly I'd like to commend the staff for always being pleasant, helpful and friendly. We will stay here again on our next visit.

| "The people at the reception were rather businesslike, whereas the concierge and the bell boys were very friendly and helpful.
The lobby is nice but rather dull and quiet, but good for people wanting to avoid crowded lobbies.
The location is excellent overlooking the Nanjing pedestrian road.
