Our stay at the Central Hotel was very good. The prime attraction to this hotel was it's location just off Nanjing Rd. and very central to all of downtown Shanghai. However, we were very pleased with the quality of the hotel, the room, and the available services. It exceeded expectation in many regards, and was very good value for the money (relative to what you would expect to pay in North America for a comparable room). Be prepared for a hard bed, which seems common at most Chinese hotels. One problem at checkout was the overcharge on the internet time, but this was fixed when questioned...otherwise, a very good experience at this hotel. We walked to many places in central Shanghai and across the tunnel to Pudong. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and I would book with them again.

| "The people at the reception were rather businesslike, whereas the concierge and the bell boys were very friendly and helpful.
The lobby is nice but rather dull and quiet, but good for people wanting to avoid crowded lobbies.
The location is excellent overlooking the Nanjing pedestrian road.

| "Location perfect for shoppers and tourist. Sauna and massage are part of China culture but this hotel does not care about itver poor facalities if you are going to spend time in the hotel. its good place if you want to spend time in Shangai its only 50 meters to Nanjing road which is the best high ligt area in Shangai. " |
