| "A great hotel with an amazing view. The view of the Bund at night is incredible from the Bund view rooms. Well worth the extra money. The rooms are a good size and the bathrooms are great with a separate shower and bathtub. The design is very modern. The restaurants are over priced, but the food is great. The Italian restaurant is one of the best in Shanghai. The breakfast buffet is good as well. The service is excellent. Check out the Cloud 9 bar for the exceptional city view and an interesting atmosphere." |

| "We stayed in Oct 2005 only 2 nights at the Grand Hyatt in Pudong. The view from above is unbelievable, the spa (with huge pool, ...) on 57th floor is stunning, the fitness center fully equipped. Except us practically no one used these superb services, so we could enjoy them on our own. The Rooms are stylish and well designed. We only had the standard room, maybe that was the reason for the bed being rather small (160 cm x 200 I'd guess). The bathroom with shower and tube, all in marble, glass, steel meets contemporary design expectations, or better. The restaurant is around 50 % above the price level "on the street" but well worth it, especially when one can admire the view. The lunch buffet was around 20 euro that time. This is very much compared to "normal" restaurant prices, but well worth it. They offer lots of chinese food, prepared on a excellent level, therefore can be recommended to anyone who wants to try chinese stuff, but is afraid to "risk it" on the street. The metro (3 yuan per person) is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, a taxi ride to nanjing road is about 5 minutes and 15 yuan, so very cheap and close, which is important, since in the immediate neighbourhood of the hotel there is almost nothing. Besides: the jazz club in the j-life building next to the hotel is better than the cloud 9 bar (but is only on the first floor, so ...). And one of Asias biggest and newest shopping centres is about a 5 min walk from the hotel.
One can easily get a good hotel for a third of that price (but without that view and that spa), yet I can recommend at least a short stay to anyone as a perfect and suitable start to a holiday in a city "of the future". As contrast a stay in a hotel in the french quarter might be a good tipp." |
