| "The Metropole Hotel was a very good hotel to stay in. The location was ideal.I had my camera stolen on the Bund and the staff were most helpful in contacting the Police. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Metropole. I found the AsiaRooms sight excellent." |

| "They stay was good. Room was very nice, good value for money.
The only thing that let it down was the service on a couple of occasions. I had problems with the lock on my door over the first 2 days. Twice over the first 2 days I came back to my room to find the door unlocked which meant that if anyone pushed on the door it would open and all my things inside my room could have been stolen. It took me 3 calls to reception to get someone to understand what the problem was and it took them longer again to get someone up to my room to have a look. The first person that came up didn't even believe there was a problem and it wasn't until I was able to show her what the lock was actually doing that she sent up maintenance to fix it. After that I still had problems on and off, this time with the lock sticking and the door not opening at all. I never got an apology.
The hotel could also be improved if they improved their "business centre". At the moment the business centre is the one computer in the back office of the hotel behind reception which is actually the reservatiions computer for the hotel so I had to wait for the reservations girl to finish with the computer before I could use it.
The hotel itself was nice and a great location but I think customer service and english language skills could be improved, particularly given the volume of overseas guests the hotel receives." |

| "Located right on the Bund, everything of interest is within walking distance. The staff was very helpful (in a curt, Chinese way) and all spoke English reasonably well. The breakfast buffet leaves a good bit to be desired, but why would you want to eat in your hotel, anyhow? Shanghai is full of street vendors and restaurants that would do you far better... many of them within a block or so of the Metropole. One word of caution, the Chinese use a completely different name for this hotel. Even the people who speak perfect English didn't understand which hotel I was indicating when I said "The Metropole." You'd best keep a copy of the Chinese name and address on a piece of paper so that you can show the cabbie once you arrive at the airport." |
