We loved this place. It was perhaps a bit on the pricey side for our budget, but after traveling for a couple of weeks and staying in hostels and such, this was the perfect place to relax and renew in quiet and relative cleanliness. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. One girl knew English very well and helped us on the phone when we realized that we would be arriving a couple of days later than our actual reservation. The cab driver didn't take us down the actual street (although he could have), which was a very small street, so we were worried that we weren't in the right place, but then we saw a small sign for the Ping Jiang Lodge, so we continued dubiously down the street, and sure enough, we came upon the lodge on the left. The location was very centrally located, and easy to walk, take a bicycle cab, or cab to anywhere. The surrounding streets were friendly and interesting, and the walk along Ping Jiang street on the other side of the canal next to the lodge was interesting as well. The lodge itself is old style architecture and picturesque, and there are many small, cute courtyards throughout. We hope others will come enjoy this place as well, so they will continue happily and successfully!!!

| "Perfect service. The hotel is nice and gives the impression to live as it was 100 years ago, but with modern comfort and in very clean conditions. During the night we got exceptional weather conditions, there was a storm with very strong rain which caused some water to drop from the ceiling (the room was just under the roof, the house is traditional and very old according to chinese standards). The receptionist changed immediately the room.
Free internet is a plus.
Breakfast was OK.
The only negative point is that taxis dislike to drive until the end of the road as they have difficulties to turn back (the hotel is at the end of a dead-end street). Just insist.
Would definitely return." |

| "Inconveniently located for catching taxis - the main street is 5-7 minute walk. Not a great location for seniors; splendid for all others.
Nestled in a hutong-like atmosphere, the setting is fabulous; hotel layout is splendid and delightful to wander; staff is most helpful. Situated on a canal, and very quiet.
Hotel restaurant is very good." |
