"We loved this hotel - it was absolutely huge with a very majestic foyer, but hardly any guests - this we found rather strange but not at all off putting. The staff were very helpful but very little English was spoken in the hotel and around the city. Westerners are obviously not very usual in Wuhan as everyone stared at us whenever we went out which was kind of strange at the beginning but we got used to it. The hotel is right next to the train station which is helpful but not close to any othere sights - we needed the help of a guide to show us around as Wuhan is so large but when you manage to travel around there is much to be seen in Wuhan including East Lake, and beautiful pagodas. Try to get out of the city into the suburbs to see some traditional chinese sights. One little complaint - we tried to find the swimming pool in the vast corridors and floors of the hotel (which reminded us of the hotel in the Shining because of the long empty corridors) but couldn't find it - but did find a beauty salon instead which offered great foot massage (but make sure you agree the price beforehand) and also rooms that undoubtedly, were used for 'special personal' services at night......very surreal!!"
