My wife and I stayed there for 1 week and having spent various holidays in different locations around Asia, we were disappointed by the comparatively low standard (although we know that the Australian way of living means something completely different) and value of the facilities given the price. More specifically, for the price we had paid you could get a spacious villa with oceanview in Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia.
Having said that, Darwin is more the location for the adventure traveller than for the beach lover, hence one should not expect the same level of comfort. Hence, the usual Northern Territory visitor would more likely go for cheaper options (but we would not recommend backpacker lodges if more seasoned) but these are rather rare in Darwin and almost always fully booked.
Nevertheless, the accommodation had all the necessary facilities and amenities and were properly attended to on a daily basis. On the other side, the hotel is on the brink of getting old and is definitively in need of a proper clean - especially the green atrium, although it is nicely made.
