(NB. I am not an employee of AsiaRooms. I spend more than 50 nights each year in hotels around the world, mostly on business and mostly in luxury hotels.) I have found over the past 2 years that AsiaRooms "hands down" has the cheapest rates on the best rooms of all internet booking sites in the world. My stay at the Palazzo was 30% cheaper than any other site that had availability - and so I booked 2 rooms!
About the Palazzo: the hotel is a living piece of art, every corner and crevice of the property is immaculate and very Versace in a very tasteful way. The extremely high room prices literally cover the cost of production and maintanance of the property and it is well worth every cent. The service however is well below standard. I had a pleasant stay and had no grievances but put simply my experience and services received was definitely not anywhere near the service expected of a 5-star hotel, it doesn't even come close. Walking through the property you feel like you are in luxury hotel, however the minute you speak to any of the staff you would think you were at a budget motel. The restaurants are reasonably priced and the food and beverages are all very high quality and unique. The pool is somewhat on the small side and the trek to the beach is via an obscure pathway (off property) but because the only properties close to the beach are both luxury hotels the beach is thankfully very quiet. The complimentary valet parking for guests is an unexpected bonus for a hotel that otherwise fails to grasp the concept of service.
Bottom line: stay at the Palazzo for the visual and taste 'experience' alone. Frankly, stay at the Mandarin Oriental HK for the perfect experience and unrivaled service.
