Novotel Melbourne on Collins is a nice...
Novotel Melbourne on Collins is a nice hotel with a very convenient location. It is located in the CBD of Melbourne, you can go everywhere in Melbourne very easily. There are many restaurants, shopping arcades, sourvenir shops nearby, and most importantly, the gathering location of all local tours is just 5 - 8 minutes walk from hotel. So, it is a very good option for all types of travelers!

There was nothing wrong with the hotel...
There was nothing wrong with the hotel itself the location is great but for someone who travels a lot and stays in hotels very often it wasnt really value for money at $253 AUD per night. The bathroom was small and very old another negitive was the lack parking that the hotel had avaliable at $30.00 per night. For $253.00 i would of expected breakfast or evan a paper at my door!
However it was Australian open time so be it Melbourne is a great city and i will be returning.

Location is good. Room size is okay. Pillows are good. Bed is soft and comfortable. But the bathroom is a little bit small.

Stayed at the Novotel Sydney Olympic Stadium as well & the Novotel Melbourne on Collins was far better allround! I honestly cannot fault this hotel. Will be back if I need to stay in Melbourne again.
For the first night of my stay,...
For the first night of my stay, I checked the bed and discovered a stain on the bed spread. I chose to ignore it thinking that it'll be changed the next day. This stain remained there for the next 5 days even after I requested for the bedspread to be changed. On several occasions, there were some dirt on the floor but I assumed they vacuum everyday so it'll be fine. However, I came back to discovered my room still dirty after housekeeping. So I decided to perform a small test by leaving tiny bits of tissue on the floor the next day to see if any vacuuming was done. To my dismay, they were still there after I got back even after I reminded housekeeping to vacuum my room thoroughly. So this goes to show that they probably don't keep the hotel rooms as clean as guests hope.

The rooms were adequate but did not reflect the price structure. The bathroom water pipes were the noisiest we have EVER encountered (one person turning the tap on was loud enough to wake the other person).
Staff were pleasant, though the barman was as slow as a wet week and could not do more than one thing at a time.
The entry being through the baggage area is rather off-putting, although the porters are extremely friendly and helpful.

From the first moment when I realised...
From the first moment when I realised my bag was already taken out of the boot of the taxi and a broad smile greeted me from the porter it was a pleasantly memorable experience. The young and vibrant staff were exceptional and I was more than happy with the size and quality of my room. The only minor disappointments were that the cleaning staff forgot a couple of tiny things and the inhouse movies were just current videos (for $14.95!). But everything else was delightful and I recommend the breakfast chef who puts those lovely extra touches on his pancakes:)!!

The Novotel Melbourne was clean and tidy. Great location especially for shopping. Staff were friendly. The only negative is DO NOT order the room service breakfast, it was not nice at all, the food was overcooked and by the time it was delivered to the room it was stone cold. I rate Novotel Melbourne 6 out of 10. If it wasn't for the terrible breakfast I would not have hesitated in rating it much higher.
