Excellent Accomodation
Very well equipped apartment which was kept clean during our stay. Very comfortable beds. The hotel is in an excellent location for sight seeing. Overall very pleased with our stay.
Clean, but very noisy....
We were expecting 2 bedrooms, the first room was very good, the second room however the door did not open fully, it hit the bottom of the bed, and it wasn't a fully enclosed bedroom?
The room was very clean and secure, the location was excellent, the kitchen area was also excellent.
The main reason I would not stay here again is the noise in the room from the rubbish removals every morning at 5am in the Laneway, the constant beeping of the trucks removing the rubbish was enough to send you crazy. Then the creaky floor boards and the paper thin walls meant you could hear other guest, not so much the talking, but the movement of them ie the knocking of walls, doors and generally walking around from above. We could have maybe put up with some of this but there was so much going on all the time it was quite tiring, and in the 3 nights of staying there we didn't get 1 full nights sleep.
The age of the building would make the floorboards hard to address, the walls could have been better, but if you had double glazing on the windows this could eliminate the rubbish beeping noise from outside.
Our room was on the second floor...
Our room was on the second floor over an alleyway that contains about fifteen small restaurants. The restaurants are great but the noise is a problem. Several nights there were loud conversations until 1am. Several mornings there were loud noises (probably garbage collection) around 6am.
Shared on-floor American-Style washer and dryer behaved beautifully for permanent press.
The location is within a block of one of the main train stations and three blocks of the downtown attractions.
Internet access speed is good and provides for outgoing e-mail but it requires the connection to be remade if you don't do anything for 15 minutes (about the time to reply to some e-mails). There should be an option to pay for a full day and avoid the auto-logoff.
Staff was very friendly and helpful, including, remarkably, the night/morning staff.
