I only had one pressing need of...
I only had one pressing need of a hotel - to have in-room internet access. I checked in advance that it was available, but the hotel failed to deliver. They will rent you a modem with a wireless connection to the service provider. It spends 95% of its time searching for a network; and in the mean time you're charged AU$5 per hour for every hour you're using their modem. Breakfast is expensive too, at AU$20 for a cooked breakfast. Staff are very kind though. The hotel changes hands on the 15th November 2007... who knows what the new owners will put in place.

Mercure Ultimo is a nice quiet hotel,...
Mercure Ultimo is a nice quiet hotel, with reasonably good location, about 15min walk to Chinatown Paddy's market, and the SydneyExplorer coach stops at the next street Haris St Powerhouse stop about 5min walk away. Darling Harbour is about 25min walk away. The staff are courteous and helpful. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. I will recommend it to middle-budget travellers, family, older folks who want a quiet location. Also thanks to AsiaRooms.com through which I made my reservations.

location...excellent staff....friendly & helpfull rooms in need of a refurbish we stayed for 4 nights, then came back for 2 nights,3 days latter...cups were stained on arrival & after a service the next day.

Good hotel but for business men it's...
Good hotel but for business men it's not normal they have only one modem for the whole hotel to be able to connect to internet from the room !!! Also the internet stream is 10Mb/min (ten times less than normal) so it's very slow and inconvenient to work with internet in these conditions...

Good price/benefit. Good localization in a peaceful...
Good price/benefit. Good localization in a peaceful street and not far from Darling Harbour, in which are concentrated the most Sydney's attractions. Needs upgrade. No guest laundry, unfortunattely.
