The local Universidade Estadual de Campinas (State University of Campinas or Unicamp), is one of the public universities of the state of São Paulo. Not to be missed is the Mayoral Palace of Campinas (Palácio dos Jequitibás). In addition, the Church of Our Lady (Cathedral of Campinas) is minutes from this Campinas hotel. It was built by slave labor in the 18th century and its interior is made entirely of jacaranda wood sculptures and works.
