Casa 579 is situated on a hillside high above the city centre in Santa Teresa, Rio’s sustainable tourism area.

Santa Teresa is also known as the ‘artists’ area of Rio, with many writers, painters and film directors living in the colonial buildings.

It has leafy, cobbled streets and a peaceful, friendly atmosphere that feels far away from the high rise hustle and bustle in the city below; yet with a bus stop 30 seconds from the house, the city centre, beaches, sights and nightlife are just minutes away.

Bus stops :
1) No 006 Silvestre / Castelo - to / from Lapa and Rio Centro .

Get on/off at the corner of Rua Almirante Alexandrino and Rua Dr.

Julio Otoni – R$2.75
2) Kombi/Van Silvestre / Largo do Machado - to / from House / Largo do Marchado (metro).

Stops outside the house and in front of the church at Largo do Machado square – R$2.50
3) Bus from Rodoviaria: Take the 133 to Largo do Machado (R$2) and you can either get off at the last stop (Largo do Machado)and then take option 2 above.

Or ask the bus to drop you at the corner of Rua Dr Julio Otoni (just after the tunnel) and then walk up our street (approx 15 min walk).
4) Public transport from the International Airport (GIG): Take the airport bus (Real Onibus) to Flamengo (approx.

R$10) then either take a cab (approx.

R$15) or walk one block inland to Largo do Machado and follow instructions in option 2 above.

Airports: International - approx 30 minutes, National - approx 15 minutes
