Sincerely, I would not use this hotel...
Sincerely, I would not use this hotel again. The stuff smiles to you all the time, however they tricked me several time. To the point I did not feel comfortable anylonger.
The rooms are indeed big but old. The hotel must have seen better days.The breakfast is less than minimal, and you get undesired visitors on your table. One morning I was cleaning my table from a procession of ants,the waitress saw it and did not move a finger to help.
The location is just close to the bars and markets etc... Hoewever, the bars and restaurants quarter are not worthy to be visted more than once.
Siem Riep is really small and you can walk everywhere. I found out that the best hotels, at even a cheaper price are located on the airport road. Just a 10 minutes walking from the city centre.
My major complain was the scum of taxi and tour organization. I had to pay 35 dollars to visit Tonle Sap, 15 to the taxi driver and 20 for 1 hours boat trip to discover that the place was almost outside Siem Riep and nothng special. It was like visiting an open trash can.
After this experience, I did not visit any other place.
Very nice is the Hotel in front of the National Mueseum. Modern and cheaper.Just look at asiarooms.com options.

The have to improve absolutely the breakfasts to adjust to western standars, they were poor and with no choices.
There is also a lack of relax areas.The hall is a bit cold.
The service is absolutely kind and the hotel has a quiet atmosfere.
Old French Hotel on the river bank...
Old French Hotel on the river bank in the old town section. Markets and restaurants right outside the door.
We stayed in the suite, they have two, and it was more expensive but twice the size of a regular hotel room. The room had a king size bed and was all timber lined, large plasma tv with satellite channels, air con. etc. A great room.
Only issue was the bath tub was not very deep and the hot water rus out before you can fill the bath.
Would definitely stay there again.

I had the pleasure to stay in...
I had the pleasure to stay in this hotel for 5 days. The room was perfect to my liking. The personnel always kind and helpful. The location of the hotel is both near to the Old Market and the Pub Street. so, it's close to the Siem Reap nightlife but also in a quiet spot. So, I think that if I come back to Siem Reap, this hotel will be my best choice.

An excellent location with good sized clean rooms and attractive decor in the whole hotel. Breakfast service was good and dining location a superb view over the town. Reception staff OK but not as helpful as other hotrels encountered in cambodia and Vietnam.

We stayed at Ta Prohm Hotel in Feb 08. The hotel has a nice look and feel - a refurbished old colonial building with good views from the restaurant balcony. Our room, although quite large, was a slight disappointment, as its decor was not up to the high standards of the lobby and restaurant. The reception staff spoke English and were friendly and helpful. But the best thing about this hotel is its location, only a short 3 min walk to the market and restaurant/bar district. Make sure you have small change ready for the porter on arrival.

This was not at all what we expected. The lobby looked nice but that's where it ended. Our room smelled and did not feel very clean. The bathroom was falling apart. The elevator broke which was a problem as I was traveling with an aunt who had a difficult time with stairs. Restaurant was overpriced and breakfast was marginal. Beds and pillows were not comfortable. We did enjoy the location which was right next to the market and across from the river. We thought we were getting a good deal for the price, but it would have been worth it to pay a little more for nicer/cleaner room.

Great service and friendliness. Breakfast was simple and the towels were thin. However, the rooms were clean and spacious. I would highly recommend it.
