Le Royal, formerly Le Phnom, is an ultra classic structure that beckons from a different era--an era that reminds us of deep histories, intentional opulence and certain hidden grace. After a week in the Cambodian countryside, the hotel was a disorienting, but welcome change. The hotel is, from American standards, reasonably priced; from Cambodian standards, it takes a King's ransom to book a room---because of this, most folks are business or vacationing foreigners. The staff is overly helpful and gracious. The rooms are well-appointed. Everything is designed to maximize comfort and convenience. It is, simply, a beautiful place to stay. On this note, it does distance the traveler from the realities of the average Cambodian--which can be a disadvantage, depending on the reasons why someone may travel to Phnom Penh. So perhaps best to shower quickly and hit the streets and enjoy the riverfront not very far away. On this note, Le Royal is a hotel that will always be remembered.

The hotel is new and well maintained. Many of the young staff have difficulty with both English and French but the French manager is extremely capable and very helpful. Because of its newness many cab and tuk tuk drivers do not know the location of the hotel. Providing a map when confirm the reservation would be very helpful.

The last two days of our three weeks in Cambodia were spent at Pavilion D'Orient, what treat it was! The staff were personable and professional, it was clean as could be and the food was great. It's a five minute tuk tuk ride from down town, so if you want to be in the middle of the hustle bustle it might not be your place. It's pretty quite and a great place to chill.

This nice hotel is a secret treasure! Only opened 6months ago it is in perfect conditions. It really is the perfect hotel for stay in Sieam Reap. The rooms are perfect and the balcony invites to a relaxing wine before going to bed. The location is great as it is a bit off the beaten path and you can experience the real Cambodia as well . . . eventhough when you're at the hotel you'd think you're somewhere else . . . in romantic haeven maybe ,o) I really can recommend it here!

We stayed beginning of March in the excellent Pavillon d'Orient hotel. From the check in to the check out we really felt at home. On the day of our arrival, after having passed the very busy airport road and saw all the big hotels we were a bit afraid to have been book in something similar. We were wrong. When we arrived at Pavillon d'Orient we arrive in a wonderful surrounding. The staff welcomes us with their well-know Cambodian greeting, all of them were smiling and we really feel unique. Pavillon d'Orient is a small luxury boutique-hotel with around 18 rooms, a swimming pool with a nice waterfall, a restaurant and a very nice tropical garden. On the dates of our stay, their spa wasn't open yet. The WiFi is available in all the public area and on our room's terrace. The breakfast was great and very complete (fried eggs or omelet with bacon, home made yoghurt, home made jam, bread, croissant, fruits, juices, coffee and tea...). We had some dinners there and they do serve an excellent and authentic Khmer cuisine. The staff and the Manager were very helpfull. Always giving us some good advices and good information about Siem Reap and the temples. The room was very comfortable with a private terrace overlooking the swimming pool and garden. We even had the chance to enjoy a wonderful sunset from the terrace. Inside the room, a huge flat screen TV, a kettle with coffee and tea available, laundry service, safety box, mini bar, bathrob, slipper, bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. Room VERY VERY CLEAN. They did provide us also some services that make us feel in a five stars hotel. The weak point was maybe the hotel location. Pavillon d'Orient is located on a new road to temples after a local market (Psaa leu). But in fact it isn't a problem if you are looking for a romantic, quiet place at few minutes to the wonderful Angkor complex and if you want to avoid the big morning and evening trafic in town. Furthermore, there are always some tuk tuk available in front of the hotel. If you want to avoid the big group in big hotel, if you are looking for a romantic place with an excellent surrounding and service, we strongly advice you Pavillon d'Orient. Thank again to all the team to make our stay in Cambodia an unforgettable one.
