A bit difficult for my taxi to...
A bit difficult for my taxi to find, although I had the address translated into Mandarin. Handy location, friendly staff, reasonable English, handy bar/restaurant in the basement with internet facilities.
Clean and not too far from the underground. Tour bookings available as well. Value for money, I would go back there again.

this should not be categorized as a hotel...it is a hostel..there is a big differnece.
The toilet had a large hole in the basin so there was no water in the pan.Disgusting.
the floor was constantly wet due to a leaking pipe.

My wife and I originally planned 6 days in Beijing. There are so many exciting things to do in and around Bejing, we stayed for 10 days. New Dragon Hotel/Hostel is in a great location on a quiet street. Great services, except the internet access was off and on. Room was big and comfortable. Staff reasonably helpful. Tours out of hotel were good. Go to Peking Opera, but take a taxi and get your own ticket, save alot. It is very fun. Hike the Great Wall from Jinshaling is a real hike of about 6 miles up and down, fairly rugged, but a fantastic experience. Take the tour from the Hotel. Overall, Beijing is totally exciting. Highly recommended by world travellers and New Dragon is in a great location near everything. Very good value.

The best thing is the locaion of The New Dragon. Anything else is might be ok for low budget travellers, but does not reach common hotelstandards. Some of the rooms don’t have windows "with a view" (except to the wall opposite), the service is poor (and so are the rotten towels) and the internet-station is borrowed probably in a technicsmuseum.. At least the stuff is friendly and helpful. And for those who think a 30 minutes-walk to the shoppingcenters or a 45 minutes-walk to the Forbidden City is a short stroll is The New Dragon an acceptable adress in Beijing.

Teh hotel is located very conveniently in the center. The staff is very helpfull and can help you with tickets and booking of hotels. There is a nice little restaurant in the hotel. We had a very good time staying in the holtel.
new dragon hostel were a disappointment to...
new dragon hostel were a disappointment to us while checking in.
1. the receptionist were not friendly nor helpful.there was no welcoming gesture or smiling faces. they look bored and fed up.
2. we had to find our own way round the hostel.we were afraid to ask questions about the facilities available as we do not want to appear as being a difficult guests in the hostel.
3. the room service were extremely disappointing. the maid clean the room while we were out visiting. upon returning to the hostel, we found we have no clean towels. used towels were removed and not replaced. we had to go down to the receptionist to complain, then the maid were come and gives us clean towels. these happen on a daily basis and we decided to keep our used towels instead in the room, hanging over a chair.
3. bar soaps and shampoos are not replaced on the second day of stay in the hostel. we had to buy our own shampoo and soaps.
4. used combs and toothbrush were thrown away by the maids and not replaced. we are not so concern if the maid leave the used items in the bathroom and not replace with new ones. we are annoyed when she throw everythings out and not replace anything back.
5. we were informed we can do our clothes washing while staying in the hostel as washing machine was provided. yes the washing machine was there but a malfuntioning one. there was no area to hang out our washing because as soon as we hang out on the clothes lines, someone will removed it and took it into the building and left on chairs. no reason given and no-one knows why.
6. the toilet in room 3304 stink. we suspect there was a sewage leakage somewhere. we tried to clean the toilet ourselves but to no avail. the smell remains. we didn't complain because we feel there would be nobody interested in what we are saying.
7. we regretted coming back to the new dragon hostel for our final week holiday in beijing.
8. new dragon hostel are more suitable for back-packers looking for cheap accommodation while visiting beijing.
9. we really like to apologize for letting you knows of our terrible experience while staying in new dragon hostel. hope you don't mind us speaking our minds as we normally don't do that. overall most disappointing experience is the unfriendly behaviour of the receptionist attending to us. we were never make to feel welcome at all.
10. we won't be going back to the new dragon hostel for our return visit to beijing
