King Parkview Hotel Beijing
The hotel is located at the back street of a Hutong and many taxi drivers have a problem finding it. The hotel is old and is in need of renovation. Though the Forbidden City is nearby it is quite a long distance to walk there as the hotel is facing the back entrance. There are a lot of small eateries nearby if you don't want to eat in the hotel. On the whole the staff is friendly. It is actually not located near the busy part of Wangfujing where the activities are. The hotel is located at the other end of Wangfujing. Hotel rooms are small. If you want to see how the local Beijing people live then you should stay in this hotel as the hutongs are just nearby. You can take a walk and observe their culture.
Basic but fine for 1 night.
For the price, the place is fine.
Positives:
Staff is nice, courteous and willing to help.
Price is low.
Bedroom is basic, but fairly clean.
Negatives:
Lobby, halls, restaurant are all very jaded.
The area of hotel is also not nice.
Food quality is poor, but also quiet cheap.
Phones do not work well.
No English language TV
Temperature in room too high - Had to leave window open.
In essence, you pay for what you get, but on a trip where I wanted to manage expenses, this place was fine for one night. Not for families or couples.

Beijing
Once I located this hotel which was a little hard to find I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. It was good size for two and it was clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly and quite helpful and the hotel is located just a couple of minutes walk to the forbidden city however it is a few km from the nearest subway station.
I ate breakfast here most days largely for convenience than quality, it was basic but quite inexpensive so suited my daily touring needs. The staff happily organized tours and taxis and I was surpassed by their honesty. I had left a broken watch in my room on departure which was promptly given back to qme as I checked out at 6 AM, and then as I drove off in a taxi the dirver received a radio message to say that I had left my credit card at reception. This speaks highly of the staff.
