The hotel is located very near Ersha Island by Pearl River. Ersha is very green and relatively quiet and can offer a welcomed break form the bustle of the city. Ersha has got some culture activities, like an excellent concert hall and a very interesting art museum, as well as a couple of nice (western style) restaurants.
The room was a bit on the small side but clean. The service of the hotel was friendly. The business center does not have printing facilities, which I found a bit strange, but the friendly (chinese-speaking) staff did their best to understand and help and I ended up sending the documents to someones personal e-mail and she printed them at the hotel office:)
There's a 24/7 store just cross the street. Post office is nearby, as well as some other shops. The bank next door will not exchange foreign currencies, nor does their ATM recognize foreign cards, but other banks can be found nearby in the area.
