Very stylish hotel with touches of history...
Very stylish hotel with touches of history but very well refurbished with all modern conveniences including an all in one computer TV. A short walk to the Bund and some fantastic restaurants.
I have stayed in this hotel once...
I have stayed in this hotel once before and again the my expectations of a quality hotel stay were all met.
The new lobby looks fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful. Room service and laundry facilities were great and the food served to the room was good quality and value for money. The location is great for access to the Bund and the view from my room of the Pudong area were fantastic. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I will stay there again when I next visit Shanghai.

This hotel was a real revelation. It is an older building dating from the 1920s/30's and has some nice nostlalgic art deco touches . The exterior does not do justice to the quality of the rooms (at least the one we stayed in) or service and it might not appear to be very promising when viewed from the outside. It has undergone internal renovation (some of which is still on-going at the time of writing). The room we stayed in is probably the best equipped of all hotels: very comfortable with all the inclusions you expect in an international standard hotel room and more eg a PC and fax machine in the room, scales in the bathroom, although the hotel is only rated as 4 star. The staff did their best to communicate with us and overall were friendly and helpful. It would improve things if the front of house staff were a little more fluent in English and there were language tourist information available. Like many places in China there is an emphasis more on internal tourists than foreign tourists The location however is brilliant and is within easy walking distance of the Bund and the Nanjing Rd East shopping area.

The current breakfast buffet is better than before with the integration of western and asia fare. The staff could be better trained to help clients with setting up local siteseeing trips, adise on travel and what to do in Shanghai but they do try to be helpfull. The broadband worked well and the room was clean and very well arranged. It is very close to the Bund and the view is very good. I will definitely try to stay here again.
I like this hotel but having stayed...
I like this hotel but having stayed in 5 star hotels around the world this one in not even 4 star. The rooms need refurbishing. Pillows are old and too flat, carpet is worn, desk chair was stained so impression is that it is not clean. Housekeeping cleaned each day but cannot do much with old worn out carpets and furniture.
Fresh fruit in room first day only of 5 day stay.
Gym is closed and main floor under construction so bar was closed as well as the restaurant.No notice given when booking.
The river view is wonderful and proximity to the Bund is a big advantage.
Staff were very friendly and the ladies in the buiness centre were very helpful.
Breakfast buffet was ok and room service food was delivered promptly and was good but not served too well. Plates were not covered.
I have stayed here before and still like it. Will return again in future.

Personnel was very arrogant like in...
Personnel was very arrogant like in tourist hotels in south Europe.
Per example when we left the hotel 6 am hele lobby staff including manager was sleeping on sofas at lobbycafe. Cleaning was also very poor.
I have been in Shanghai several hotels. Only Ocean hotel is on same level all others are better

My husband and I spent 5 days...
My husband and I spent 5 days here. The room was very nice and the bathroom have just been redone - very large with new fixtures. We stayed on the business floor, so we had easy access to a computer for a reasonable fee. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was adequate and the location was great - walking distance to the Bund and several interesting sites. We will definitely stay here again.
