Not bad but not good ... Rooms are ok, but the buffet is not exceptional. and not so easy to get a taxi.

I had a great experience at the Golden Flower Hotel.
The hotel came up trumps in every department. Within a day, every member of the lobby staff knew me by name, indicative of the very high standard of service.
The location isn't the best - it is outside the city walls - but a 10 minute taxi ride has you into the centre of Xi'an.
I would rate this as probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in and would highly recommend it.

Nice hotel, good staff, nice facilties, good gym and (small-ish) pool. Restaurants pretty good - which is fortunate as the hotel isn't really located anywhere where you have much alternative to eat unless you are a Mandarin speaker.
Felt like a new addition to the Shangri La chain (no Shangri La sign outside) but pretty good choice. Main attraction for us is that it was one of the better located hotels for the Terracotta warriors. SAGA use the hotel and we saw other US tour parties visit as well.
Only downside was the spa, not really that good.

From my experience Shangri-la in China are very nice. Excelent service and western style rooms and food. We got a very good rate from AsiaRooms and that made it even better!

We were delighted with almost everything at...
We were delighted with almost everything at the Shangri-La. The tour they arranged for us to the west of Xian was outstanding.
Service in the hotel exceeded our expectations. The Chinese restaurant in the hotel was lovely and, for a luxury hotel like the Shangri-La, very reasonably priced.
Our only criticism was that the amount of available drawer space in the room was more appropriate for one traveler than for two. Otherwise, our room on the Horizon Floor was lovely.
For travelers with limited time, the location is very convenient for visiting the Terra Cotta soldiers as it is east of the city wall.
We recommend the Shangri-La Golden Flower wholeheartedly.
