This hotel is really nice and I recommend it for everyone. Nice big rooms, nice location and staff. It would help if more people in the reception could speak english.

Good Points:
Excellent location - The Bell Tower, large Shopping Centre and Post Office within 5 minutes walk and plenty of place to eat, drink and shop close to the hotel.
The rooms are clean and of a reasonable size. There is a business centre, gym/sauna/massage facility and a restaurant within the hotel complex.
Very large internet cafe close to the hotel - it is a bit like a 1980's disco with large flashing squares and a few yuan for an 1 hrs broadband access.
The Airport bus stops outside the hotel so it is very easy to get to/from the airport.
Bad Points:
Only some of the staff understand basic English so if you don't speak Mandarin (Chinese) you could have some communications problems.
When asked where was the nearest Internet Cafe I was told Outside Hotel!
Asked for a room away from the main road/front of the hotel (or buy some ear plug) if you want to get any sleep as even at 3am you can hear the taxi's sounding their horns and shouting at one another.
I have to deposit 800yuan (about £80.00) when checking into the hotel, which seemed a little odd as I has prepaid for the room in advance.
When I came to check out at 5am in the morning they only wanted to give me back 380yuan the rest they claimed was payment for the room.
It took fifty minutes and a lot of telephone calls to get the full 800Yuan back. At one stage they told me to contact Gullivers when I returned home to sort out this matter despite giving them the voucher during the checkin process!

Hotel rooms quite spacious and bathrooms a decent size.
Not many of the staff spoke english but i can assure you the "tourist booking office" located within the hotel did (they were also wayayyy overpriced)
I would recommend this hotel was excellent value for money and lots of places of interest in surrounding area.

Booked here although someone had written not to bother if you aren't chinese. Well, that is true to an extent. Most people there will not speak chinese, but there is always one or two people available who take over should language problems arrise. Another good feature of this hotel is that you could book evening events directly there, including transport to the event, such as the lovely dance/music we enjoyed. One thing to remember is that they do charge a 200 RMB deposit for the keys. Be sure to check out on time to get this back (sometimes takes a while if no english is spoken). The location of the hotel is fantastic - within short distance to the market and other sights.

Although the location of the Melody hotel was excellent, the staff at the front desk were unhelpful, slow, lacked competence and their lack of English made it very difficult. It is worth it to pay a little more and stay at the Bell Tower which is next to the Melody hotel.

We were disappointed with our experience with the Melody hotel. After them losing our reservation we made online, and subsequently trying to charge their excessively high rack rate, we finally checked into a reasonably comfortable room. The location of the hotel is great, however we had problems every day. (4 days) From having the room made up properly to reception, I found the staff to be generally unhelpful and rude. Also took 20 mins to check out.

We were pretty happy with the position of the Melody hotel. We were disappointed that we could not change money at the hotel, however.
