Long boat in Thailand

Renowned for its golden temples, pristine beaches and aromatic cuisine, Thailand never fails to impress and always leaves visitors coming back for more.

Known as the Kingdom of Siam up until 1939, Thailand is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Asia. Called ‘The Land of Smiles’ thanks to its friendly, fun-loving people, Thailand has everything from bustling cities to unexplored islands.

Most visitors will get into the capital in Bangkok, where colossal shopping malls stand in contrast with traditional floating markets and Buddhist temples. Bangkok is a truly modern and cosmopolitan megacity, home to the national Grand Palace, Chatuchak Market and a non-stop nightlife scene.

Thailand’s islands and beaches are legendary the world over, such as Phuket, Krabi, Pattaya, Koh Samui and Phi Phi Island. Avid divers should head to marine national parks like Similan Islands or diving sites in Ko Tao, where azure waters, scenic rocky coves and coral reefs can be admired underwater.

In northern Thailand, areas like Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son are excellent bases for exploring the cool and lush hinterlands of Thailand. From elephant trekking to guided walks to visit the hill tribe community, northern Thailand is an excellent destination for ecotourism.

Rich in culture, history and heritage, the Thai culture and cuisine is truly unique, exuding warmth and generosity. With food, shopping, fun, temples and islands, Thailand has something for everyone.
