Swiss Nile Inn Hotel....We were not looking...
Swiss Nile Inn Hotel....We were not looking for a five star hotel. We wanted a place to hang out at with our two kids (pool, available food, ice service and a TV) and we wanted a place to just sleep while out touring Egypt. Inexpensive, included breakfast and food was priced well.
We felt extremely SAFE here although it is in real Egypt not a huge tourist area like up the street where Hyatt and the four seasons are. The value is amazing for what you get. A play area in the restaurant in the hotel, breakfast included, a roof top which overlooks the nile and the pyramids are in the close, distant. It is in the middle of Egypt being that there is a local community surrounding you on both sides and in the back. it is on a main road.
I call this hotel "my diamond in the rough." I would gladly stay there again if they continue to maintain the hotel. I enjoyed sitting on balcony and just watching the local life. I enjoyed sitting on the roof top while my kids swam and I could watch boats in the Nile and see all the 5 start hotels down the road.
The lobby as you walk in is bright, clean and has security detecter and a security guard. The people who worked there were eager to answer any questions, help us find places and get a white taxi any time.It is cheaper to get your own taxi verses having transportation arranged through the hotel.
The only negative feedback I have is customer service which I am accustomed to however, I had to realize that I am in a foreign country and they may not understand every word I am trying to say but I admired their assistance to help me until they felt I was satisfied. This place is safer, cleaner, cheaper and far nicer then a motel 6, LaQuinta inn or any other cheap hotel you could get in the states (which I would not want to stay at).
Our room was clean and a man wanted to come clean everyday and give us clean towels. The bathroom was good, room size good as we had three beds. We stayed in a standard room with two beds pushed together making a king and another single bed at no extra charge. I thought the location although not right in the tourist section was still good. 20 minutes drive to down town and 20 minute drive to the pyramids. Ill try to post pictures so you can see what I am talking about. The pictures from the website of the Swiss Inn do not do justice for the restaurant or the roof top/pool area.
The regular rate for the room we stayed is was priced at 100 us dollars a night and we got it for 70 us a night.
