Radisson Blu Gewandhaus Hotel Dresden

Hotel Description

The baroque capital of the Free State of Saxony is one of Germany's most beautiful cities and its wide range of cultural attractions ensures there is plenty to experience all year round. Amidst architectural masterpieces such as the Semper Opera House, the Zwinger area and the Church of our Lady, the historic Radisson Blu Gewandhaus Hotel shines in its glance. The building was first recorded in 1295 as a cloth hall, where clothiers sold their fabrics. Following its total destruction during the Seven Years’ War, J. F. Knöbel reconstructed it in 1770. Although gutted by fire during the bombing of Dresden in 1945, the construction was rebuilt in the Sixties and used as a hotel. After complete renovation of the building, the Radisson SAS Gewandhaus Hotel opened its doors in 1997. In 2009 it was renamed as Radisson Blu Gewandhaus Hotel. Situated close to the Old Market Square, this Boutique Hotel offers the perfect starting point for exploring the cultural highlights and unique sights the city offers.

The extraordinary and remarkable interior of the Radisson Blu Gewandhaus Hotel with its historic baroque flair reminds of the original cloth hall in a special work of art. Its 97 comfortable air-conditioned rooms and suites are tastefully furnished in elegant Biedermeier style. While relaxing in a classy surrounding, you can take advantage of up-to-date technologies and services – from free Internet access up to tea- and coffee-making facilities to individual 24 hours room service.
The spacious marble bathrooms, which are oases of sensory calm, offer you relaxation at any time and are equipped with grand jacuzzis or glass showers. On request you can book rooms suitable for handicapped people and allergy sufferers, as well as rooms for smokers and non-smokers. We also welcome your pets.

The culinary range of our restaurant “Weber’s im Gewandhaus” is based on a light and creative Mediterranean cuisine as well as typical Saxon and regional dishes.
