The Hotel, built in 1993, is situated in the middle of a very green part of Dresden, called Laubegast on the outskirts of the city. Laubegast is a former Austrian quarter of the city.

In keeping with the Laubegaster Tradition famous Austrian people and places have been enschrined. The Name "Hotel Prinz Eugen" has been taken from Eugen Franz, the prince of Savoy-Carignan (Born 18th October 1663 in Paris - died 21st April 1736 in Vienna). Known under the Name of Prince Eugen, he was one the most famous Commanders of the Austrian Houses and substantially backed Austrian super power status in Europe.
