Wanting to keep the family home alive, the Poulis family created this small, gorgeous, boutique hotel, by restoring their 300-year-old country home, with the eye to letting others share the experience.Situated in the lovely, tiny village of Kostitsi, only 15 kms from the new Egnatia Motorway and 25 kms from the centre of Ioannina, the hotel is surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Epirus Mountains. Not being content with merely the glorious location of their cosy little hotel, they have added a swimming pool, barbeque, tennis court, 5-a-side football, small spa and mini gym, just in case the local pies and delicacies of the hotel’s picturesque restaurant tempt you to overindulge. The rooms, suites and chalets have been decked out in traditional but stylish décor, with iron beds, rich fabrics and colours as well as all modern comforts.
Consisting of just 22 rooms in total, all with TV, hairdryer, mini-bar and full air-conditioning, there are 8 double or twin rooms, 6 junior suites, 3 senior suites and 5 stone chalets. The junior suites are spread out over two open plan levels, with a double bed on the upper floor and a sofa bed for two children or vice versa. The senior suites consist of a lounge area with sofa bed accommodation for two children, separate double bedroom with four poster bed and 2 bathrooms, the one with a shower. The stone chalets are built on two floors. The ground floor has a spacious living area with double and a single sofa bed, fireplace, kitchenette area and bathroom. The first floor is a separate bedroom with either a four-poster double or twin beds and a shower room.
Breakfast is a delicious, simple fare, of freshly baked bread and croissants, homemade cakes and jams, honey from the neighbour’s beehives, local olives and tomatoes, fresh eggs, yoghurt, cheese and other local delicacies. A local cook from the village, Popi, prepares all meals and makes everything as if you were eating in her own home. Light lunches and a selection of home cooked traditional dishes for dinner are also on offer, as are the well chosen local wines.
This delightful little hotel is located just 25 km away from the beautiful city of Ioannina and as its location is at 900m altitude, air is crisp and fresh and refreshingly cool during the summer months. The views of the Tzourmerka Mountains and the Arachthos River gorge are breathtaking and the surrounding scenery gentle and lush. The location is ideal for walkers as the cooler air ensures they can walk throughout the normally hot summer. There is also a riding facility close by and mountain biking, water rafting as well as many other sports can easily be arranged.
