Good, Basic Hotel
Metropark Hotel is a good choice for someone looking for a good, but basic, hotel in Hong Kong. I usually stay at the Langham in Kowloon so this is my frame of reference. Metropark's location is excellent for access to the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre. It is also located close to restaurants and bars but Wan Chai is not a family friendly area of Hong Kong so I wouldn't recommend this hotel for families. It is not located close to any major shopping centres but Wan Chai metro station is only a two minute walk so you have access to the entire city. The rooms are quite small so depending on what you are used to some people might not like to tight accomodations. I had two single bed's in my room which was an upgrade according to the reception. Breakfast was not included in my room rate but I was offered a 40HKD coupon so it was only 90HKD. The food was good quality although selection was limited. Overall, Metropark met my needs and I would stay there again if I was traveling alone.
2 Nights at Metropark
The hotel was in a great location. The room was very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The staff service was exceptional. Pity ther was no view from our room.
Reasonable value for money
Stayed for business. Great location, often walked to Admiralty. Smoke-free room, decent water pressure. Had a safe in the room for valuables, laptop. Internet in room did not work, bit cramped and seemed like only business person there. Many staff had only functional fluency in English - fairly normal in HK. Elevators are slow as molasses. Hallway often had peculiar smell of strong cleaning spray or something. Would consider staying again but felt like I could have spent a bit more money to be more productive business-wise. Overall, considering the location it isn't bad value.
Metropark Wanchai is a nice hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast buffet. You can reach it fast by Underground or Bus, Tram. No long ways to the viewpoints. Ideal for visiting the city.
Great place to stay
Very clean and everyone on staff very polite and accommodating except for one particularly rude and unhelpful trainee called Anastasya on the front desk. Excellent value for money. We stayed in an executive double room which was spacious. Broadband was in the room but we only had our iPad with us and WiFi only in the lobby, which was a little annoying but not too much of an inconvenience. Only 2 blocks from the MTR and 7 Eleven, Circle K and Wellcome supermarket within a block, as well as a number of pubs to have a drink (and for my husband, to watch the Rugby World Cup!). We stayed for 10 nights and having some drawer space to store our clothes (apart from the hanging space in the wardrobe) would have been good. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was overall quite good with lots of variation in the buffet, but it did not change greatly for the 10 days we were there. My lasting impression is of spacious, clean rooms, a quiet place to relax after a big day, and we would definitely stay at a Metropark again.
Everything was okay. It was only too cold in the hallways and also in the restaurant.. My advise: don´t forget your sweater when you stay in Metropark Wanchai. For the rest: excellent service and very polite staff.
Convenient hotel
This hotel is situated near the Wan Chai MTR station which makes it accessible to the major tourist destinations around Hong Kong. Tourists do not have to worry about getting food nearby the hotel. The hotel staffs were friendly and helpful. Although the space area of the room is small, it has all the necessary ammenities. The only downside was the shower curtains which made the room smell damp and also the leaking basin. Overall, this hotel is recommended if travellers are looking for affordable, comfortable and convenient place to stay in Hong Kong.
Metro Park Wanchai
This was the second time we stopped in this hotel within two weeks.
On both occassions the staff were very helpful and curteous. On the second visit we had a problem with door lock not opening, but sorted out quickly and efficiently by the staff.
Good location and easy access to the MTR.
As with most hotels in HK, the room sizes are small compared to european standards, but still adequate.
