The Cosmopolitan needs a make over, but...
The Cosmopolitan needs a make over, but you pay for what you get. In Hong Kong where space is a premium, the room are quite small - we upgraded and got a much brighter and bigger room, with a fantastic view and basic and adequate room facilities. The reception area is large, fairly modern and bright, the small bar at the side has a outdoor space (next to a motorway). This is the place to stay, short term for the races, rugby or business meeting. Its accessible to most of Hong Kong island, and its easy to get cabs. The breakfast was unbelievably bad, runny half cooked eggs, strange selections of poor quality food that all tasted greasy and unpalatable, all served up with surly faced staff in a 1970s 'Crossroads motel' look-alikey. No exactly a great start to the day. In short its a good price, and it you dont expect too much you wont be disappointed. I'm trying to shut out the clump of black hair I found under the bed, when I am blonde and my partner bald.

I felt very cheated when staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. It was only after my arrival at the hotel that I was informed that all standard and superior rooms either have no view or a view of the cemetery/grave yard at the back of the hotel - not the horse track so prominently displayed otherwise. I stayed at the hotel for 3 days on one of the top floors, and every morning I got very depressed when I opened the curtains and all I could see was the grave yard - a very depressing view. From this stay I definitely learned that I will never like to have a cemetery/grave yard outside my private or office window! I also experienced one day that the cleaning lady was letting my neighbours into my room! It was only because I was in the room and had put on the door lock, that the door could not be fully opened. But it is in my view a great error to let someone not occupying a room into it! I have never tried anything like it anywhere else. The internet service had to be paid as additional. And it was so slow at times that I had to complain about it and claim part of my money back. Additionally I asked for a double bed but was only given two single beds. The promise by the reception to put the beds together was never carried out. There was no room for my 15 inch computer in the safe and it was a daily hassle to hand in the computer to the storage department. The people at the reception did - besides the comments above - do a good and friendly job.

We booked from the internet the cheapest room. For the price on the asiarooms, the room was okey, clean and nice but too small, not enough room even to leave the suitcase and the bed too smaill. So we made an upgrade and pay much more money for other room which was bigger and had a bigger bed as well.

The hotel itself is alright. No complains on the services and size of the room. It is comfortable as well. However now i know why there is a frosted window and why the windows cannot be opened. Because there is a cemetary just opposite the hotel. However no worries, encountered nothing eerie. The hotel have 3 guest lift but they are super small and slow. I have to wait for 5-10mins to get down to the lobby in the morning because all of them are full. The lift are too small to serve the whole hotel. The location is too far off the MTR. If we miss the shuttle bus, we will either need to walk or take a cab back to the hotel. The hotel is also very far away from the shopping areas like tsim sha tsui. There is no convenient stores around the hotel... if u want some food at night, u either have to call the room service or walk about 10mins to search for food. Most of the stores there closes after 10pm... so also nothing much to eat i guess. I will not choose to stay at this hotel in future due to the location. But it will be a good business hotel since its rather quiet. Not recommended for old folks because you need to climb alot of stairs if you are walking back.

Location is good due to near MTR but you should know how to walk from MTR to hotel. Room is too small but quiet and could have a good sleep. Shuttle bus is very convenient.

Quite central location but not so near to train/subway but hotel provides timely shuttle services to central locations so that's good. A stone's throw to nearby eateries and supermarkets as well.

The room is good! small but cosy and very clean. Location is not very convenience as need to walk about 10mins to the MTR. The staffs at the reception are not friendly, always very busy and usually ignored our attentions when we needed some enquiries. When we first checked in, we were asked to wait for half an hour for the room to be ready which I thought the hotel room should be ready for the guests and not vice versa.
