Not bad... the staff are quite friendly, and they get things done if you tell them that the equipment is down. However, dont expect fanciful add-on as this is a budget place. It is clean, decent, no smell of smoke and will recommend if you are on a budget.. anyway, it is still not that cheap anyway, but this is not bad afterall. Not very accessible actually, but it is just about 5-10 mins walk from the MRT. More importantly, the environment means that it is not as noisy as some places which are located closer to the heart of the city...

I was apprehensive at first after reading all the comments here but I'm glad I'm proven wrong. The hotel wasn't that far away and it really only took me ten minutes to get to the centre of Mongkok. Besides, there are many eateries and shops on the way to the MTR so it isn't bad. The hotel is ideal because it really lets you go a lot of places by walking. What's more, there are buses going to the Star Ferry just outside. The room was small but cosy and it was better than what I expected. I didn't need much, just a simple room to put my stuffs and let me sleep at night. The bathroom was very clean and it had everything. The TV can get a little boring with only four channels but then again, the rest makes up for it. My room was the standard type with all facilities. Very recommended for budget travellers. This is really worth all the money. I didn't enjoy my travel very much but the hotel was one of the better things that happened. If I have to go to Hongkong again, I won't be checking into another hotel.

I have stayed in many Hong Kong...
I have stayed in many Hong Kong hotels over many years. Dollar for dollar, this is the best deal I have ever had. I want a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price, and Anne Black Guest House is perfect for me. It has a fine location, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. It's clean, it's comfortable, it doesn't charge you for a lot of unnecessary extras. If you want a place to stay while you visit Hong Kong, this is the place. The most significant thing for me is the price. Hong Kong is already overpriced. I will stay here often, as I often come to Hong Kong. It's not fancy, so if that is what you want, pay for a five star. But if you want the most bang for your buck, this is the place. I have been coming to Hong Kong regularly to visit relatives and friends since 1981. I've stayed at dozens of hotels. I was sick of being stuck with large bills for amenities I don't want or use. So I am very happy with Anne Black.

The room was spacious enough for my husband & I and an rollaway for my small child, but we were given twin beds instead of a double. Basic room with a bathroom, fridge was acceptable. The mattresses were THE WORST WE HAVE EVER SLEPT ON IN THE 5 CONTINENTS, I highly recommend they replace all mattresses with something more confortable and not so hard that does not even adapt to a guest's body. Reception staff were very nice and polite. We did not mind the distance from the Star Ferry, it was an easy 10 minutes bus ride.

Stayed there in the 1st week of Oct and had a room without attached bathroom. The room is tiny, and the facilities in the room are ancient. The air-con and the kettle does not work properly. Common bathroom is poorly lit, so you can hardly see while in the cubicles. The doors of the rooms and bathroom also slam shut with a loud bang, so it gets very noisy while other guests move in and out. The nearest MTR station is actually 20 min walk away, not 10 min as stated in the website. The only good point about this hotel is its price. Stay there only if you are on a tight budget and do not mind the inconvenience.

This is a great place for your money in HK. Granted, it's a short stroll from Nathan road- but it's not too bad and well worth the exercise. The rooms are clean and tidy. It's definitely a good deal for the price.

Anne Black was clean, although rooms were a bit small and bathrooms not attached. The MTR was also a bit further away than expected. The restaurant served pretty good food. The place was definitely good value for money considering how expensive Hong Kong is.
